Thanks Sharon, you are right, of course.

The difficulty with calling on our kids is that they have very small children of their own, who would have to accompany them. Although we love them dearly, they are hard work, so it's easier not to ask them. Having said that, middle son is coming over at the weekend to cook us a nice meal, so that will be nice - his step kids are older, so not quite as energy consuming.

My mum and niece are coming today, so they will sort lunch out - a luxury, as I have been doing the cooking since leaving hospital.

Katy... wish you were close I could bring you some meals! Hope you have a good visit with your family! I understand the grandkids and their energy... Mine are 5,6,10 and just about put me to bed after 1 hour.

Can you get middle son to cook up a whole bunch of main dishes that you eat on all week and just make a salad to go with? That would be really helpful for you.

I almost always cook up a bunch of food and freeze or eat on it until it is gone. Then I cook up a bunch more. I only have to cook a few times a week, if that often.

Gayle, thank you, I would love to have a meal with you.

Sharon, I stocked up on chops, steaks, fish etc that I can cook in the oven in foil. We have been having those with either salad or microwaved frozen vegetables. As I'm having a very low carb diet, this has been the mainstay of our meals, together with an omelette for breakfast. Before previous surgeries, I've made frozen meals, such as cottage pies, bolognaise and lasagne, but feel healthier on the protein and veg meals.

Thanks for your comments and concerns.

So, you just need to grit your teeth and get through this! You are doing really, really well, have planned well and this, too, will pass.

Hugs, Sharon

Kathy,

I'm so sorry for all that you and your hubby are going through at the same time. Please take  care and know that you can come here any time to vent and get things off of your chest....it does help!

Gentle hugs to you....

Hi

I thought I would give you an update on our situation: Hubby is much better, so less worried. He still hasn't had his CT scan, and his GP is chasing it up with the hospital. We are hoping to be given a date tomorrow. In the NHS, if it's suspected you have cancer, you will be fast tracked and have a scan within two weeks. As it is now four weeks since we were told he needed one, we feel slightly re-assurred that they don't think the 'something' on his x-ray was so sinister. I will let you know how he gets on.

I'm now almost 5 weeks on from my pevic floor surgery. I am healing well, and feeling good. I drove my car for the first time yesterday and, apart from sore tummy muscles, I was fine. I'm starting a phased return to work tomorrow, just doing some work from home this week, and going back into the office next week.

Life feels good!

Thank you for all your support.

Pleased to hear this Kathy!  You are doing well just 5 weeks after your surgery.  Keep up the resting as well as getting back into work slowly.  Hope your hubby gets the scan date soon.  \take care  xx Ailsa

Kathyx - nice to hear from you - thanks for the updates.

I'm glad that both you and hubby are feeling better.  Hopefully, your husband will get the call soon to get the CT scan done.

Good to hear that you are feeling good five weeks after surgery.  Take it easy and don't rush back into the working world too soon.  Bet it was nice to be able to drive again - but, don't rush things there either.

Continued get well wishes to you.

Yes, as you said at the beginning of this thread, it is always something in our lives to keep us on our toes. Never a dull moment with life. Take care now and don't overdo when you get back to work. Irish

Thanks ladies. We are still chasing up the scan, as there was no news today.Wil let you know how it goes.

Today was my first half day working from home. I can't believe how tired I was. Just relieved that I didn't have the commute as well.

Thanks for the update!

Glad you are doing well after your surgery, but please don't overdue it! You feel like you are doing ok...but your body is still healing. Good to hear that you are slowly easing back into work. :)

Will continue to keep my fingers crossed for hubby's scan to be scheduled asap!

Gayle

Hi Katy!

Sounds like all is doing better, just don't over do it! I know it feels great to know it will all work out! JUST... take it slowwwww.. :) Hope you get the CT info soon, worrying is never good or fun!

Katybarstool

Thanks folks!

I've been brought fown to earth with a jolt today - a ten minute up hill walk wreaked havoc on the 'undercarriage'. Was even tempted to sit on an ice pack when I got back. So, that's a lesson learned for now.
