13 rattlers and 2 buttons. He is in critical condition. That's scary. Our dogs were bitten by small ground rattlers last year but survived. We are keeping the lawn mowed.

They are considered an endangered species here and cannot injure  at all.

Ohhh, I would think that his running after that snake helped to spread the venom throughout his body faster. I bet he wanted to kill it so it couldn't bite anyone else, Bless his heart.

Has it been wet in Georgia?? Sometimes when the wild lands get more water than usual the snake seek dryer ground. We found that out when we lived in Michigan and found 4 little baby rattlers behind out garbage can.

Hope this fellow survives this ordeal with no residual problems---especially brain issues. Irish

That is frightening!  I certainly hope the guy recovers soon.

Until just the other day it had been very dry here in Ky, and more snakes had been seen; as said, it seems they come out looking for water.  If one lives in the country here, it's not too unusal to find a black snake or possibly a rattler lying on the porch or deck.
