Gull Stones at 40?? WOW Anyone else have that??

Went to hospital yesterday with SEVERE pain in upper right abdomen and then spread to the back. I show blood in my urine as well. THey believe its Gull stones...But I need a booked
Ultrasound to confirm it yet. Anyone else have that here??? I only 40! Geeze that was the worst PAIN ever!! As bad as Childbirth!!

What I remember most about gallstone formation from nursing school was
FFF.

Fat.
Female.
Forty.

Not sure if you fit the first criteria but the last two snagged you! Sorry, I know they can be very painful.Surgical techniques have come ahead amazing should you need operative intervention however- hope you get some relief soon

I think that I was around that age when I had mine removed.

Oh wow! Really!? Yes I just turned 40 and and am on heavy side   ....I read online about them as soon as i got home and there are Two types of Gullstones. The first type is most common and often result of rapid weight loss (I wish lol) ...THe second type is VERY rare.. Its said " which can occur when red blood cells are being destroyed (hemolysis). This leads to too much bilirubin in the bile. These stones are called pigment stones."

I thought Hmmm? I know Sjogrens attacks its healthy tissues at times so thought maybe it was part of Sjogrens? LOL! I guess I will know better after the Ultra sound and I appreciate your feedback! I thought I would see lots if people with Sjogrens post here...so maybe your right! Its my Lucky 40!

Very painful omg! And 4Kids, you had your out at 30?? WOW thats YOUNG! I thought Gull Stones were for older people   I thought wrong! I probably will require surgery they said so Ill se what happens! And Joe S......Thanks very much for your input as well!! ! So its fairly Common then I guess! I didnt think it would be! OUCHIES!!!

I had gallbladder surgery at 38 yrs. old.  Mine developed weeks after giving birth to our son. 

Yes, very, very painful when you're having an attack. 

I had laproscopic surgery and they only use three small incisions.  The worst part post-surgery for me was a 7 wk. old kicking baby.  I kept a pillow between him and me at all times.

Hopefully, you'll have your ultrasound soon so you can get things taken care of.

I am another one that had my gallbladder out at 34. My doctor said it could be related to hormone treatment for infertility that I had been taking. I had three big gallstones and the gallbladder walls were very thick, which indicated chronic inflammation. About 6 weeks after I had surgery I realized that I felt fantastic, the best I had felt in at least 6 months. Sometimes you don't know how bad you feel until you feel a lot better! If they recommend surgery, go for it as soon as possible.

Oh wow! Thank you for all your responses!   I go for ultrasound in the morning..I am SURE they will see stones and yes I will agree to have my Gallbladder removed- I don't EVER want to feel what I felt the other day. I had a feeling of a queezy stomach for a week or two now.. Kept thinking "What did I eat wrong?"  LOL

Then I thought I had bad heartburn (which I never get) but assumed that what it was.  . then it got BAD and the pain was in my right side under my ribs and went into  my upper back. Finally drove to the hospital as I knew something was really wrong with that Pain... then it kind of subsided in the ER waiting room for a couple hours.. then it got BAD and INTOLERABLE! I wanted to die it hurt SO bad. I thought something was REALLY wrong with me and felt like i was dying! The pain was UNREAL and indescribable!    They gave me a shot of Morphine in my stomach..  after about an hour the pain was nearly GONE! It hasn't come back yet (thank Goodness!) but I hope the Ultrasound tomorrow shows that it is just stones and I hope they get it fixed before another attack! I don't want another one That was terrible! 

So I guess Im not too young for this and I look forward to having it out if that's what they suggest Many thanks guys!!!

I had my first attack at 18! The water we all drank was so heavy with scale, and the area had MANY gall stone sufferers (4 in my family?) so there is an unofficial assumption it was caused by the water.

Who knows.

I'm right there with you!  Had mine taken out at 42.  My mom had to have hers out too--just wondering if there's any link there or just coincidence.

My cousin had hers out at age 19. I was 55... and skinny.

Just found out I have gall stones - I was having an MRI for a back problem, and one of the of "oh... by the way" pieces of info was that they also detected gall stones.  However, I have no pain, and if there's no pain, they don't treat.

Which is fine with me, because, really, I don't need any more problems right now.

I had my gall bladder out when I was 40.  It was the old fashioned slash all the way across the belly operation.  I had one bad attack and the dr said if the stones get caught in the ducts, you might get an infection and have to wear an iv for weeks/months while it was cleared up.  That got me right down there to get in line for the surgery.

I was not really fat (then) but all the other things I lined up with.  I know of two sisters who were teenage and in the hospital at the same time having their gall bladders out.
