CAT1962

Googling some Sjogren's stuff and came across another health forum. It was for fibro and the thread was something about Venus' SjS diagnosis. One poster said she had "serious doubts" about the diagnosis saying no one could "feel that bad just having Sjogren's".....HAH! lol....come here,  Honey. Let's talk!  ;D

Earth to Venus!!! Venus has to still be in denial. She needs to figure out that she will have to give up her high stress occupation. There is no way that anyone can maintain that type of lifestyle and ever, ever have a good day.

Our body needs all the extra rest possible and to do all that physical activity is really crazy---just my humble opinion. I also would not be surprised to hear that you sjogrens is accelerating and that she is having more symptoms. Taking care of ourselves comes with the territory.

I would think that she should have a little chunk of change in the bank after playing alal these years. Irish

Venus's on court career is certainly winding down, being over 30 years old and now Sjogren's.  She is probably close to retirement.  On the hand, I know I have had I undiagnosed Sjogren's for a long while, and up until this year, when things have gotten a lot worse, I played lots of competitive tennis: singles in sun for hours at 90+ temperatures.  Last summer, I had a 3.5 hour singles match in 95 degree weather, and I was no worse for wear except for being tired and sore afterward, nothing abnormal.  I have played for years with Sjogren's.

Now, I cannot be in the sun for more than a few minutes nor can I even play DOUBLES, which is much less intense, INDOORS even without being sick during and afterward.  For now, I have completely given tennis up.

The manifestations of this disease are unique for everyone, and she will know it the minute that she cannot play anymore, just like I did, or maybe, more like it, her doctor will tell her to quit playing because things are worse, just like mine did. :)

Cargillwitch has posted the other day what Venus' hitting partner had said about her, "just wanting attention" thing. I was absolutely floored and ticked off. I couldn't believe there wasn't some expression from the Sjogren's community about it.

That's why I proposed the Sjogren's awareness campaign in one of my other posts. It really is up to us to bring awareness. The people it actually effects. There's a lot of folks not getting diagnosed and suffering more than they need to because they aren't getting the proper treatment. Then there's those folks who are speaking through idiocy because they don't understand this disease.

If you know of any talent on this website, be it literary, art, whatever - send them to my Sjogren's Awareness post.

It all just sickens me. Seems like it's the idiots that get heard, it's so annoying.

i hope she doesn't have a pushy manager......who won't let her take her winnings and go take care of her health.

It would be great if she retire now while still on top....and then become a spokes person for...........SJOGRENS.........that would give her purpose and drive...but not over-do it...rest.....rest...
