I had my naval pierced about 10 years ago and now I'm 36 and wondering if I should take it out.  I have been wearing the same belly ring since I got it done and it's all discoloured ow.  Was going to buy a new one but I don't know if I'm too old.  maybe one a little more subtle than the faded purple one I have in now would be k I don;t know.  I also have a tattoo of an eagle on my back, but there's no getting rid of that!  Just wondered what you guys thought.  Don't feel you have to be nice to spare my feelings.

LOL, Wildthing... I think I love you!

Okay, PERSONALLY - I think 10 is too old... ROFL - But I too have a tattoo on my shoulder/back - was supposed to say grandma but my kids from Japan corrected me, says angel.. long story but anyway... tattoos are a done deal.. if you like your belly button bar, do it! Who cares but you!?!

WildThing

10 is too old lol

Just noticed all the typos btw, sorry.  How big is your tattoo Gayle?

MissyLouWho?

The only one's opinion that matters is yours  :).  But if you have a nice belly (and I know you look a lot younger than 36) then show it off!

I pierced mine 13 times myself with a safety pin  :-X when I was 18.  Kept doing it because I didn't like how it layed, I wanted more flesh in some of them, etc.  If my belly wasn't so stretch marked and flabby, I'd do it again and I'll be 36 in August.  Personally I think low rider jeans and t shirts that show a belly ring is really sexy.

WildThing

I haven't actually got a nice belly at all it's way flabby lol so thinking of not showing it off so much now

Gayle

HI!
I think it is about 2"x2" or so. Not big and no one sees it unless I am in a tank or a bathing suit. I got it when my grandson was born. Well, to me it is still grandma but funny, it looks completely different than what it is supposed to be. (I had looked it up on line and the tattoo guy also had the same symbol for grandma. 5 yrs later I get two kids from Japan who eventually see it and say it means angel..

WildThing

Ah I see.  But it's quite subtle then?  Mine is a great big black eagle but it's on my lower back so I guess no one would see it unless I wore a bikini.

Gayle

fairly subtle and I forget I have until someone sees and asks me about it. I wanted one on lower back but was to chicken... the shoulder hurt enough :) I was really feeling badly when I got it, didn't know why then. For a week I was in bed afterwards and everyone thought it was the tattoo... lol, were it only.
Enjoy your tattoo and belly ring... no one has a right to an opinion but you! 8)

I think I've decided to take the belly ring out forever.  Going to get some Savlon today to clean up the 'hole'.  I do think they are a tad trashy if I'm honest, especially on a woman in her 30s.

I am decidedly not a fan of body modifications as I would never willingly put myself through any pain whatsoever, lol.  That being said, you should not worry about what anyone thinks, even if you choose not to show it off anymore due to age or belly condition.  If it is just something that you wear under your clothes because it makes you feel pretty or remind you of your formal self or whatever the reason, then, I say, wear it!

I have a belly piercing -and I am a decade older than you at 43!

I had it to mark the finalization of a divorce 8 years ago.I had already had my four children so no worries about pregnancies expanding the area.

So far I am happy with it- I am fairly thin and it is an area rarely seen by anyone save my husband and doctor.

I had pondered a tattoo but I liked the fact that was not a permanent thing- if tomorrow it just doesn't fit who I am any longer- out it goes!

You're not a decade older, just 7 years!  But I have in fact taken mine out now, I think I look better without it.
