Yo-Yo Gasoline prices

Up and down, up and down . . . these gasoline prices here in the U.S. are ridiculous!  ??? Last week, I paid $3.949/gallon.  Today, I paid $3.669/gallon.  (One difference today was I had 10c off a gallon with my Kroger card).

As we head into summer vacation season soon I anticipate the prices jumping up again.   ::)   :(

Due to the yo-yo effect of gasoline prices - have you changed plans in traveling or limited your traveling due to prices?  I know for myself, I don't do very much "extra" driving if I don't have to.  If I do go out, I make sure and consolidate all my errands at one time.  Doing it that way uses up a bunch of my spoons by the time I finally get home, but you do what you have to do.

Think yourself lucky. In the UK gas is now £1.59 per litre. There are about 3.78 litres in a gallon and £1.59 = $2.53 so I reckon we are paying about $9.56 a gallon!!!!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Bucky~ We consolidate trips, too.  I send hubby because my poor legs can't take more than one short trip to the store.  But we'll plan out our shopping down to what to get at what store and what the prices should be (in case we hit an in store sale), and keep coolers in the back for cold stuff.  We go in one direction one week and hit the stores there, and then the following week, we head  in the opposite direction.  The stores are about a half hour away either direction, so we try to limit driving there often.  We also are starting to let the kids walk to and from the bus stop which will cut down on the driving and idling of the engine while we wait for the school bus.
We also sold my old V8 truck and bought me a newer V6 minivan and the gas savings is unbelievable!  Almost half of what I was paying.  And the best part is what we bought the van for was the exact same price we sold my truck for, so it was an even swap and then the insurance is cheaper with the van so we really saved without having to put any out  8).

I had the kids go through the old Family Fun magazines and pick out all the fun outdoor stuff.  They made lists of games and crafts and such and compiled the articles into a folder so when they want something different to do, we have ideas.  That way, they get great 'new' fun without traveling expenses.

Gosh Scottie, that would be the only reason that I wouldn't want to live in Europe!  Whew, those prices are outrageous!  And here I thought that paying $4.08 per gallon was awful. :-\

Scottie,

I know....we in the US gripe and groan about gas prices since we've been so spoiled!  $4.00 seems outrageous to us and it's always been so much higher elsewhere.

I have noticed more people in the neighborhood taking a bicycle on a short trip.

There's a young couple with 3 small children who live a couple of blocks away from us.  I've seen them ride to the grocery with all 3 in tow; Dad has a bike with a partially enclosed cart behind for 2 of them and Mom has a seat on the back of her bike for the other child.  Cute!  :)

Our newspaper today in Eastern Iowa has an article that gas prices were going down.
I Hope!
