So yeah, following on from the fall I had the other day my tail bone is rather painful.  It hurts to sit down and to stand up and feels not just sore but kind of weird.  I wonder if I have damaged it.  Has anybody else fallen down and hurt their tail?  Mine has always been a bit sensitive on and off like I can't sit in one spot for long or it aches but this time I have really done it in.

I think you can hurt your tailbone.  I think my mother hurt hers in one of her many falls.  I don't remember what they did if anything for it.
Primary SJS, dRTA, Osteroporis, OAB, stage 3 kidney disease, hypothyroid and high blood pressure.  Medicine I take are plaquenil, bicarb, prolia, synthroid, toprol and amolipine, citracal and vitamin D.  I use Arex and Azasite and Prolia.  I also have Reynaud's and osteoarthris of the toes

Hi 2 years ago I fell on the ice and went flat on my back and hurt my tail one it was extremely painful and had to take time off work, after a few weeks the pain had completely gone, at the time sitting down was almost unbearable.

You can break your tailbone (coccyx) and women sometimes have this happen during delivery if the baby is large or their pelvis is small.  Can also happen with a hard fall/sitting down hard.  Keeping pressure off the area and time is the main way to treat it.  If it is really bad sometimes it has to be realigned, the doctor/ER/Orthopedist would do this, but it is very painful and rather embarrassing from what a friend of mine told me who had to have it done.  Her tailbone cracked and was displaced during a partiularily hard delivery.  Hopefully you will be feeling better after a few weeks.  Try the donut pillow, standing or lying on your side or stomach, avoid sitting or lying on you back if possible.  Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the input guys.  Oh I hope I haven't done something to it yet if it needs to be put back into place it needs to be put back into place.    Hope I can hold on until I see the doc on Thursday!  this is absolutely the last time I get anti bacterial spray on the floor!

Yes, you can break your tailbone and most often time is the only cure. Make sure you don't sit on it directly. Bless the old fashioned donut cushion at times like this.

Most of the time the fracture happens when a person falls, but my neighbor lady had her tailbone break during her last delivery. Talk about ann owie!!!! Irish ;D
