Brain Fog!

I know we talk about this a lot, but it has really got to me, because I can't find one of my major meds.

I take one dose of a bigger strength of the morning, and a smaller dose at night. I have the new prescription I got filled for the one at night, and can not find the bigger dose filled for the mornings. I have turned the house upside down.

Just so frustrating, and for the first time ever, today when I was doing a copy and paste. I went blank in what to do when I went to paste. It was scary.

Oh Susan,
I know a lot of us can find humor in the brain fog , but it is really scary. I lost/miss placed a watermelon last year and posted about it in fun but when I found it a few days later in the freezer, I thought, what was in my head at that that moment that said it was ok to put the watermelon in the freezer! Kind of freaked me out a little.

I can understand. I've had a couple of these times where I just do not remember what I'm doing, or where I put something just a few moments ago.  And it is scary.

The good news is these times usually are not often, and don't last more than a couple of hours. I think your fog will "dissapate" soon.  The more we fret, the longer it seems to last (or for me, anyway.)

I hope you will find the meds soon and feel calmer.

The other day I came home crying from work because of brain fog.  Making lots of mistakes, sometimes can't finish sentences because I forgot the words or call things my different name cuz I cant remember. I am afraid if it continues I could get fired from work.

My husband thinks I am nuts and there is nothing wrong with me other than just pay attention to what I am doing.

  So my goal is to try to make no mistakes... Friday was my first " No Mistake " day.  I really concentrated and focused on what I was doing.

  I had a repeat MRI for another eason done the other day for a different medical issue.  As I had seen my rheumy a couple of days ago he had the test done earlier as I told him my memory and brain fog days were getting worse.  When the results came back he told me that I had small brain vessel disease.  It is a form of scarring seen in people with SJS and is resitant to steroids so there is no treament for it.  Luckily mine hadn't got worse since the last one.  I do hate the days whenh it is bad.  I feel that when I am trying to think there is a black hole adn I can't remember how to spell simple words or do my job.  Yesterday I couldn't remember which type of a product I use regulary I used and was just standing there staring at them having to figure it out.  My rheumy started me on Nameda which is an Alzheimers drug in agreement with another of my prescribers.  I didn't expect it at age 47 and my pharmacist said it won't bring the memory back but will hopefully stop it getting worse.  I didn't like being told this but in a way it was a felief that I had an actual reason for why this is going on.

I think of something I need to do in another room and when I go to that room I have forgetten that I went there to do anything.  When I talking on the phone all of a sudden I can't remember what I was talking about.  Most of the time it is my Mother I'm talking to and her memory is really getting bad so she doesn't really even notice.  She doesn't even remember a name she just said.

THE BRIT- Did your rhuemy say that the small brain vessel disease is related to Alzheimer's ?

I guess the best thing we all can do is go on with our lives, and it's true that worrying too much just makes any of it worse.

The first thing I looked was to see if you are on Neurontin! I am also - I swear that is what causes a bunch of my fog issues.  But given the alternative...I'll take fog over pain.  I have finally embraced my crazy side! LOL.

1998 Readers Digest issue suggested Acetyl L carnitine and Alpha Lipoic Acid for brain fog.

I had an MRI on Saturday and am waiting for the results. I put in for disability at work last week and Friday is my last day before I start my leave. I won't be going back. I would have been there 17 years on April 4. It makes me sad but at the same time I'm so relieved. I was having such a hard time doing my job because of the memory loss and other cognitive issues that I was under probation and was close to getting fired. We have really good benefits so I didn't want to get fired and lose them. I think my boss was very relieved that I decided to take disability leave so she wouldn't have to fire me!

Oh yes...the brain fog...you can tell when I am in the midst of one.

You will see me resembling someone who's playing a party game. I am saying to my husband...
(in grasping for recall)you know it starts with a "C". Or the other day where I was trying to tell him that
a new tv show he likes was on (Person of Interest) & all I could come up with was...the Machine show is on. For
anyone who watches the show, you will understand the reference. It is crazy & I get embarrassed looking like such an airhead

If you are still struggling with brain fog, asking to meet with an occupational therapist can be extremely helpful.

i too suffer from brain fog. I am afraid that I'll know when to quit working....when they ask me too! I always worry after I get home if I did this or did I do that, I work as an LPN  and I so do not want to make a medical mistake.

I don't believe I'll have to quit d/t joint pain.....it will be because I got stupid.
