I may a bit older than most of you but I was a teenager in the mid 60s and they were a popular group.  My favorite one died yesterday from a massive heart attack.  I still think of them as men in there 20s not men in their mid 60s.
Primary SJS, dRTA, Osteroporis, OAB, stage 3 kidney disease, hypothyroid and high blood pressure.  Medicine I take are plaquenil, bicarb, prolia, synthroid, toprol and amolipine, citracal and vitamin D.  I use Arex and Azasite and Prolia.  I also have Reynaud's and osteoarthris of the toes

I used to watch their show before school when I was eating my breakfast.  Sad about Davey Jones he was still a young man at just 66 and always looked so healthy.  So many celebrities have been dying young lately it is like an epidemic.  I'm still not over Michael Jackson.

I have all my sisters Monkees LP Albums and I have a CD I picked up at a garage sale once.  Ah, yes . . a trip down memory lane.  How many times my sister and I would sing to their music holding a wooden spoon or hairbrush as a microphone.

I believe my Dad took my sister and a friend of hers to go see the Monkees once.  I'll have to ask him the next time I talk to him.

I wanted to go see them when they came to Oklahoma when I was 13 but my parents said no way.  We lived in a town over an hour away from where they were playing.  When they got together in the 80, I was sick when they were in Oklahoma.  I guess it wasn't meant to be.  I so sad for his daughters  They must me really sad right now.

I liked the music, watched the show but never bought the LP's. I think my wife's twin got their LP's. I have not told her yet. I am waiting for her to find out and make a comment.

Here we come, walkin' down the street. We get the funniest looks from everyone we meet. Hey,hey we're the Monkees and people say we monkey around, but we're too busy singing to put anybody down.....

Remember that? Yes, when I was a teen, they were one of my favorites. Who would have known then that I would have a daughter and grandchildren that are Monkees fans? As a matter of fact, when they were here in Michigan last year, my daughter took me to see them. She is a member of their fan club and has had the opportunity to meet and dine with Mickey on more that one occasion. Wow!!

Anyone remember " Sixteen" magazine. I used to cut out their pictures.

I'll miss Davy.

"Steppin' Stone" was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar. A nice and easy four-chord progression: E-G-C-D.

I've been humming "Pleasant Valley Sunday" for the past two days. I didn't realize, though, that the song was co-written by another of my favorite singers, Carole King.

The show "The Monkees" is being touted as the first music videos. That was a fun show!  I also enjoyed The Beatles Cartoons back in the day.

Sad about Davy Jones. Mike Nesmith was originally my favorite, but I found out later what a jerk he is and so I changed to Davy. Kind of cool that he was backstage when The Beatles performed on Ed Sullivan.

So sad for his wife and kids, and his band-mates.

i used to watch their show after school-of course this was in the 80s..reruns..but i loved them and loved Davy Jones!! I remember him on the Brady Bunch too-Marcia had a crush on him!

I read that he had been married 3 times.  Each of his first 2 wives gave him 2 daughters for a total of 4 daughters.  His third wife was quite a bit younger than he was.  I think something like 35 years.  I was flipping channels one day and saw him on the Dr. Phil show with who I thought was one of his daughter.  It turned out to be his third wife.  They were on talking about their differences.  I think she didn't like being treated like a child.

I guess I'll have to have Mickey as my fave now.

Yes, Davy Jones passing brought back memories to me, too.  I'm sorry to hear this for his family and daughters.

Good memory, Duchess! I really wasn't into their music that much, but it did get stuck in your head.

I was 13-14 when the show was on and the Monkees were popular. A girlfriend of mine was head over heels with Davy and had a HUGE poster of him in her room.  She had the crush bad.  You know the kind where if she saw him in concert, she dreamed of him kissing her hand and she'd never wash it!!  ;D
