How much do you guys sleep? I sleep soooo much. If I dont I get sick.

MissyLouWho?

A lot.  I sleep 10+ hours at night and need a 2-3 hour nap during the day.  Lately I have been having bouts of insomnia though.  But usually I just sleep most of the day.  If I don't, I crash and can't move.  Seriously.  The other day I crashed and slept for 16 hours straight and couldn't move.  My husband thinks I'm lazy and sleep too much.  He says too much sleep will make me more tired and that's all it is... ::)

I sleep 8 hours everynight. I need at least that. Then what is frustrating is I can't sleep longer than that. I start hurting too much when laying there so I get up cause I can't sleep anyway. And the pain gets worse laying there trying. I nap during the day sometimes. More and more lately. My fatigue is getting worse. Im lucky that I dont work. I do have a child in school, so during the day I can take a nap. I just have to make sure im up to pick him up and I have to be able to stay awake to take care of him till dad comes home. Some times I go straight to bed as soon as hubby walks in the door.

I sleep a lot too. It's like I need at least 10 hours and if I don't get enough I crash. We had a dog go down with horrible seizers, necessitating an emergency trip to the vet at 3 am one night, (hubby had had a horrible week so took a sleeping pill before the fun started).  Then 2 days later my brother needed a ride to the airport at 4. I got through, but have been down for 2 days now and my fevers back up. I hate this. :-[

Before this all started, I would sleep for 7.5 hours if I did not meditate. 1 hour of meditations was like 8 hours of sleep. The clocks near the bed agreed with the 8 hours. The clocks 20 foot away said 1 hour.

Now I have trouble sleeping and must meditate off and on through out the day. No sleep tonight, breathing trouble. I will have to meditate several times during the day to make up the loss.

I go through periods of problems sleeping, waking up at night and having difficulty settling down again. Really takes a punch out of me during the day time at work. I have found taking extra magnesium during these times helps.

I  know I seem to be unique here for this but if I don't get a good work out in after a few days I can hardly keep my eyes open during the day or  if I sit or drive. The fatigue is overwhelming! I have to push myself but once I get a good work-out in I feel SOOO much better and have more mental clarity and energy. I feel tired by the end of the day but a " right" kind of tired.

I have to remind myself of this when I feel like taking a nap- that what my body really may need is an infusion of oxygen in my cells- best way to get it there is exercise!

I get about 61/2 to 7 hours a night broken up ( have to put drops in and pee, sip water) my husband and I have this crazy busy life that is too much for me. I have to get a small nap in if I can every day or else I feel like Im going to fall down.

I Talk with my husband and told him I neeeed more sleep, he doesnt get it. He is a type A, needs little sleep. We have a very demanding family and a very active neighborhood.  Sometimes I feel like I would like to go check into a hotel for a few days just so I can get some peace and sleep undisturbed.

Hi Piebird,

I'm lucky if I get 4-5 broken sleep per night, every night.  I'd love to nap, but I'd probably never get back up and the boss would frown upon it! ;) :D

Oh boy-good question!
I need 10 hrs a night to function on an ok level the next day. On weekends I try for one 12 hr session. If I can I'll have a 2 hr nap in the day. It really impacts on time available for anything after work! My sleep can be broken up by pain but Lyrica keeps me in a deeper sleep so I nod off again straight away.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who needs this much. It makes me feel 'normal' :)
Nobody else 'gets' this need for rest and if I'm away with others I often end up compromising myself and having less to fit in with them. And then pay for it for a couple of days after :(

I wish I could sleep 8 hours a night but i'm lucky if I sleep 4 hours.. I have so much trouble going to sleep.. Then have trouble staying asleep because my neck, back and hips hurt so much.. I can't nap during the day either but I do lie in bed and watch TV for a few hours a day..

Maybe I should clarify,, I get 8 hours of sleep, but most nights it is interrupted sleep. Having to use the bathroom and change position in bed due to pain. More nights are interrupted sleep. But a few are non interrupted. Even on those I wake exhausted. I believe it is cause our bodies are so busy fighting itself, it is exhausting us. Like when normal people are sick. Their body is fighting infection, so they are tired and need rest. Well, our bodies are fighting all the time.

I sleep 5 hours a night, sometimes less if discomfort or feeling ill. I agree with Cargillwitch that exercise helps so much with the fatigue. Unless I am in horrible shape, the dog & I walk a.m. & late afternoon---we are up to two hrs./day now. I don't think I would sleep much at all without the exercise. Each time before I walk, I think that there is no way I can do it! However, the farther I go, the better I feel. Perhaps the endorphins kick in a bit?

I sleep 9 hours a night during the week and on weekends as much as 12 hours a night plus a two-hour nap if I can fit it in.

I wish I didn't need so much sleep. I feel like all I do is drive to and from work, work, and sleep. Depressing.

The only way I can sleep is with Ambien and that only gives me about 3 hours uninteruppted sleep.  On the very rare nights that I can get 8+ hours, I feel really good the next day, but again that is very rare.

But I heard on the Evening News with Brian Williams the other night that people who take sleeping pills die earlier than the average person.  But I think I would die even earlier if I didn't sleep at all.  And now that I am suffering with the pain and agony of perioral dermatitis, I feel like I don't care when I die.  Sorry to be such a downer.   Anyway, I am still taking the Ambien and am going to ask for Ambien CR at my next PCP visit.

My average is 6 hrs - with Ambien. I know this is not enough, but taking naps during the  day is challenging.  Exercise does help - even a short walk with the dog. It is 9:30 A.M. -am where I live- and I feel like going to sleep now, but have a full day, starting at 10 AM.
