Really not sure what part of California we are going to yet but its one of the places on my bucket list.... it will be a long trip since we will be driving....I am going with my husband and his work....I just hope my body makes it...

My mother used to laugh and roll her eyes every time we went on a trip someplace. I'm in Eastern Iowa and we usually went to the western part of Iowa or up around Minneapolis, MN. I would make lists of what to take, meds, phone#s, and print a driving map. I also has a map / list of where the pharmacies, gas stations, restaurtants and medical facilities were. Mom always said it was like we were going to Timbucktoo.

Your preparations sound a lot like my parents.  They were meticulous in preparing for every event on any trip, which really helped a few times. 

On the other hand, my MIL and father-in-law were the opposite.  My husband tells of a few family vacations they took (packing up themselves and 3 little kids), driving to the highway in Cincinnati and deciding at that moment "Do we go north to Michigan this week or south to Florida?"
