Hi all.

It is like the Kondikes here in Ohio and my husband thinks I need to get outside in the fresh air, hah hah.
It does sound appealing to get a lung full of fresh air instead of this dry stale air in the house.
I explain to him the whipping cold wind will dry my eyes out, the sun reflecting off the snow I can't take, but most of all there is ice and I am afraid I could fall and I want to protect my right hip.
He just shakes his head....oh the healthy among us don't seem to weigh the pros and cons of such an venture outdoors today.
I think I will just pile on another blanket and reopen my book again

My husband seems to think that getting out and breathing some fresh air will heal anything.  I really wish it could be that easy.  Here in Oklahoma we have been having a pretty mild winter so far but tonight and tomorrow we could be in for our first ice and snow of the season.  With osteoporosis I don't need to even be out.  I'm not too sure footed on anything slippery and don't want to fall and break anthing.  You would think my husband is a teenager instead of almost 66.  He's just like a kid on ice.
Primary SJS, dRTA, Osteroporis, OAB, stage 3 kidney disease, hypothyroid and high blood pressure.  Medicine I take are plaquenil, bicarb, prolia, synthroid, toprol and amolipine, citracal and vitamin D.  I use Arex and Azasite and Prolia.  I also have Reynaud's and osteoarthris of the toes

I have to laugh! We DID go outside!!!!! We had a weekend trip to Fairhope AL for a Mardi Gras parade.....it was so cold! 25 degrees last night brrrrr.......today I am paying for it! I am achey all over and out of the 6 hour drive back I think I slept 4 1/2 hours of it and I am still super sleepy! ouch, my whole body!!!!! :(

i think this is "normal" for husbands to think fresh air will make us better!  Mine says the very same thing.  You know, I do think their is a grain of truth in there.  If we are constantly inside, we don't get any fresh (albeit cold) air or sunshine (vitamin D).

I know times when I have just done so to show that I'm no rug lying around and gone to the store for a few minutes or outside to do something.  I actually think sometimes it does make me feel better after being out.  I wonder why this is a "male thing about going outdoors?"

It is so hard to believe that it is snow and cold in Ohio. In Minnesota, actually, it is the coldest it has been much of the winter. However, there is hardly any snow. I can look any direction out here in the country and see open roads and fields. A few snow piles leftover. The sun has been bright in spite of the cold and the wind the past couple of days.

I walked down to the mailbox today to get the Sunday paper and going down was nice but coming back was into the wind and cold. I have to say that even that little trip perks me up. When I was healthier I spent a lot more time outside and I sure miss it.

I think that we all need to get outside every day. Years ago the older houses had the little porches on them that were especially for people with health problems. This was back when there was so much TB. I think that sitting out on a 4 season porch with a little shaded sun and some fresh air from open windows would do us all good. Just my opinion!lol Irish ;D

Going somewhere, getting out of the house a bit does help your attitude. But you have to decide when you are ready - or when the dr says you can.  ::)

Sounds like your husband wants to help in some way and that is his way. Maybe you could give him another avenue to go on so he feels he is helping?  It is hard being around someone that is "ill" that you want to cure but can't and durn frustrating too.

Yes healthy people generally do not "get it". I even worked with a BC survivor of whom it took 2 years to wake up to the fact that she had a compromised immune system and THAT was why she got sick at times - not everyone else in the office's fault!  Management even had to get involved as she was driving the employees nuts that came in sick. Yes Corporate America does make you come into work sick due to their policies.

besides trips to the barn to do chores my workouts in the winter are inside most of the time. Canada is a cold place and raynauds is painful! I have a treadmill, do yoga or go to a local gym after work. I have to be honest though I really enjoy spring coming and being able to just get out hiking and running in the bush!

eye2dry,
I'm in Ohio too, it's a strange winter we are having! 40's then snow, then 40's & snow. My yard is a muddy mess but huby loves it.

Can you sit by a window or door to get some fresh air this week? It's not supposed to snow until end of the week, of course it's gonna be 40 next few days.

I aired my bedroom out & smelled so good.

Fresh air isn't going to cure you but sure is nice  8)
