Does any one knows what this means?

I had a Ct scan done awhile ago and was getting the report out to take to my appointment at the breast center this coming Thursday. While reading it I read something that alarmed me a little bit, it may be nothing but was wondering if someone understood this sentence.

Ct examination reveals a few shotty lymph nodes in the both axillae. 

Last friday I went for a routine mammogram and the technician did not perform it because she felt a lump in my right armpit..

I am for the most part calm, but after reading this ct scan I became a little concerned??

Sometimes, following infection lymph nodes occasionally remain permanently enlarged, though they should be non-tender, small (less the 1 cm), have a rubbery consistency and none of the characteristics described for malignancy or for infection. These are also known as 'Shotty Lymph nodes'.

I have just been through a scare with lymph nodes myself. Darn things!

Wait for the result from your doctor. You can stimulate lymphatic drainage by a down ward motion from your arm pit to your lower rib on the side. This is part of the lymphatic drainage massage that I spoke to.

I remember reading that they are called "shotty" nodes because they feel like buckshot.

This is why doctors don't like patients getting copies of results before the doctor has reviewed them and discussed with the patient.  You need to speak to the doctor.  I would suggest stop looking on Google until you know what you need to be researching.  This kind of stress can make matters worse.

Shorty nodes is very common and usually mean nothing. Kids get them all the time with colds,etc. I am sure adults do too, I have always worked in a pediatric setting.

The only thing I do not get was why you could not get your mammogram?

I try to always stick with .org and .edu sites as they are usually pretty reliable.  At the very bottom of this page, it says that snotty lymph nodes are likely viral in nature.  Stay calm and keep breathing.  It's probably just that - viral.

They did not do the mammogram because it was a facility that only does screenings they could not do diagnostic (ultra sound) and because she felt the lump she said I had to go to their main facility and get a script from the doctor for diagnostics

Hi Anita, so far I have not Googled any of this.  I did speak to my doctor late afternoon she told me to take the report with me to give to the radiologist when he speaks with me after the tests.  She was not aware of this CT scan as it was ordered by another doctor a few months back. This doctor closed his practice and I was mailed a copy of all my records and tests including discs for CT and MRI he had ordered.  I was not aware of the findings until today when I read the report

You do need to wait and talk to your doctor about the results.  If it is serious, they would most likely call you so chances are it is OK.

Just a precaution about the lymphatic massage....if it is a possibility it is cancer you do NOT want to massage as that can move the cancer cells through your lymph system to other parts of your body.

The lymphatic massage is great for edema, but is a strick contraindication for cancer so use some caution if you don't know for sure what is going on.
