Not quite the start to the year I was looking for.

Hi  :)

Well I'm back to work today and not feeling great. So saying - it probably isn't SjS related. I was looking forward to sleeping in yesterday morning - last sleep in before work - but I woke up with bad stomach cramps at about 6 a.m. and spent the next four hours running to and fro from the bathroom. Eventually the 'runs' settled down but I was left with sore guts and general achieness. No fever however. I decided eating would be a really bad idea but I made sure I drank plenty. (Not alcohol!) towards the end of the day I risked a couple of rice cakes. I needed to know if they would set me off again because I'd decided not to go to work today if I needed to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes or so.

I did go to work today. I've eaten very little. My guts are still uncomfortable and I have a headache. I know I'll feel better in the next few days so I'm just in here for a whine.

Thanks for listening.

Go home and rest my dear!  Hope you will be feeling better soon.  Having the runs takes so much out of a person.

Ugh!!  I'm so sorry you're feeling so awful.  Be easy on yourself.  Something I do when I get BAD cramps of any kind, I closely eyes and imagine myself taking out the organ that's hurting and massaging it.  Soothing music, meditation imaging and advil have helped tremendously.  I hope you get to feeling better soon.

It sounds like you picked up a stomach virus from somewhere.  I've had that happen plenty of times.  Sometimes the days after are just as bad.  All I do is rest and relax and drink Sprite and hope for the best.  It soon passes.  But I know it's hard to wait for that to happen especially if you have to work.

Bucky

Awwww, Scottie - I was hoping that things would have settled down for you and you would have felt better by this morning.   :(

You might have a headache because you're hungry?  (This happens to my son when he skips meals - once he eats something, he feels better.  I know in your case, you are kinda afraid to eat anything.)

Makeshift Nurse Bucky found this information for you:

1)  Drink plenty of fluids.  Weak tea with a little sugar, sports drinks such as Gatorade, or Pedialyte which will replace electrolytes.  Sip your drinks instead of guzzling them down.

2)  Stay away from caffeine - drink ginger ale or carrot juice.

3)  Eat yogurt.

4)  Rest!!!

5)  Eat soup, gelatin, brown rice, noodles, potatoes, toast, cooked carrots, soda crackers or skinless white meat chicken.

6)  Drink Chamomile Tea

7)  Eat blueberries.

Stay away from any "fiber" products, as this is something you don't want right now.

Hope you feel better Scottie.

Sorry to hear this, hope you feel better soon.   Everyone around me has a stomach virus...  :(

Luna

So sorry to hear about your troubles Scottie. I had that awful virus going around. I threw up everything , even sips of gatoraide or sprite came right back up. That lasted for a full day. Hubby took me to doctor and I got a phenagen shot. Knocked me out. THen I ended up waking 8 hours later. Back to throwing up again. Took more phenagen. Slept. Doctor told me it would be three or four days before I felt right again. That may be the same thing for you my friend. Bucky's advice is exactly what the doc told me. I hope you feel better soon. I am just able to get up and about today.

p.s, Sorry I know I spelled phenegan wrong. I got the generic and dont remember the spelling.

Yes, Scottie, it seems to be going around, and around the world!

So far I've missed that joy.

But with three grandchildren, I expect most things will be delivered to me at home.

However, I really hope not.

Somehow the gastrointestinal things are such an insult to one's system.

Keep us posted.

Hi  :)

Thanks for the advice. Tonight I decided I really better eat something as I was getting dizzy so I had poached white fish with mashed potatoes and turnip. It seems to have stayed put! Guts still grumbling a bit but I think they are on the mend. It's weird - the most uncomfortable bit is not where the cramps were it's more from the navel up. I'm not nauseous though.

Take care - Scottie  :)

I hope you get over this soon. My son always said he would rather have just about anything before a stomach virus. I am not too fond of them myself.

Get all the rest you are able to, and keep hydrated with plenty of electrolytes. (just being a good nurse for the moment)  :)

Scottie,
I hope you are having a pain-free day today!   Those little stomach "bugs" can knock us for a loop.
Thinking of you.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I think I'm pretty well over it now - and it must have been a 'bug' because hubby needed to stay close to the bathroom this evening!

At least it wasn't flu like! Still being reasonably cafreful about what I eat but feeling ever so much better than when I started this thread!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Blech!  It must be in the air.  There are so many people around here that have had a nasty, 24 hour bug in the last week or two.  I just keep waiting for one of my kids to bring it home to us.   ::)

Glad you are better!

I'm coming in late on this Scottie, but I'm glad to hear you're on the mend.  8)

Being sick like this can really wipe us out, can't it?  I hope your hubby doesn't have a bad time of it.

Take care of yourself, dear!
