My eyes haven't so far been the worst symptom of Sjogrens (yet) , but the past week have felt very dry and burn to read. I've tried several brands of lubricating drops that the eye doctor gave me samples of, but they make them burn worse and I had to rinse them out. I also noticed the other day peeling an onion that they burnt like crazy but never teared up.   Any thoughts from you experts?

Your inflammation and added dryness from this could be causing the extra burning, but I found alot of natural tears make me worse. The only
one Ive been using for years is Genteal (mild-moderate) cant take the gels either.

Though, my mom uses Refresh PM gel and she loves it.

I use preservative free refresh for sensitive eyes. The individual vials.

Hi  :)

I think preservative free is important too. Personally I like Celluvisc but I know some don't.

I hope you find something to suit you.

Take care - Scottie  :)

If one is using bottle that drops are preservative free, it is a good idea to shake the bottle good before instilling drops.

Am finding this true with the new Systane Balance drops I am using...shake, shake, shake or what's left in bottom of bottle burn eyes.

Vials... one really cannot shake.

Jenny,
Try using the drops more often.   Many of us find that waiting until the eyes feel dry before using drops makes the drops burn (no matter what kind you use.)
