Do you "love" your mattress?

I've read through some of the previous threads about mattresses - some are several years old, so I want to throw this out there again to find some new information in reference to a mattress.

The current mattress I have is about ?? years old . . . not sure - guessing at least 16 yrs.  I would really like to get a new one - but, there are gazillion different kinds on the market.  Where to begin to look?

I know some people "love" their Tempur-Pedic mattresses - others hate it.  I'm not sure I would like a foam mattress, especially if it has an odor - which I have read that it does.

Some people really like the Select Comfort mattress.

Others like the Sleep Number.

I realize it is all about personal preference . . . . I just don't know what I want.  Laying on a store model for two minutes isn't the same as sleeping on it at home night after night.

I'm not sure I want a firm mattress, yet - I don't want one that is too mushy.

Plus, there's the cost factor . . . .  ::)

Way too many decisions to pick from.

What do you have and do you "love" it?

Also, is it really necessary to get a new "box spring" when you buy a new bed or can you just buy the mattress?  (I know you CAN buy the mattress only - but, should you buy both new when getting a new bed?)

I think there was a post about mattresses about 3-4 months ago.

I have a very bad lower back with bursitis on one hip as well as on one shoulder, so I have gone for a firm latex mattress with a soft latex mattress topper and it works a treat love it.

But  it pays to make sure that you don't have any allergies to latex.!

Good Luck

All three of our sons ended up buying a sleep number mattress as they all had back issues and needed this ability to select.

The oldest son just recently went back to a regular mattress. He said he got so that there was no way he could sleep on the number one anymore. I guess we all change as we age too. Irish ;D

Used to love my Bob o Pedic, but it's started to go downhill over the past year. Going to be getting one of the Disney Collection mattresses, since I always sleep so well when we're in Disney.

Have had Sleep Number mattress for 15 years. Not the same one... in fact, I'm on my second twin one and the air pump is going on this one for the second time.

Purchased from company for $200 what was described as a refurbished pump and have had it about 3-4 years and now it is not giving accurate pressure numbers. Surely not, sleeping on 100 does not seem feasible but this what the pressure shows on bed switch plate.

Have thought about getting a topper but bet whoever said heating pad will damage the foam is correct.

Oh well, past nap time... off to sleep on 100 pressure for a while.

Well, today after playing Goldilocks all day - I have bought a new mattress.   ;D  It arrives on Wednesday.

It is so hard to decide on "the one" when you are going from store-to-store-to-store.

Some really were too hard, too soft and the one I picked . . . just right!   :)

I did lay on one of those latex mattresses . . . ahhhh, that was nice!  I offered the guy $800 to buy it today . . . no deal.   :'(

I opted to check out some of the smaller mattress companies (the kind that actually make the mattress for you), plus some of the big box furniture places.  I chose my mattress from the smaller mattress company.

I wish our son had been with me - I would have gotten him a new mattress too as he needs one.

I also bought a new pillow - one of those ergonomic memory foam pillows.  Not sure if I will like it or not, but the gal said I could return it if I didn't like it.

Today's been a good day!   ;D

I used to "love" my mattress but now that it is over 12 I'm beginning to hate it.  My husband is not very good at turning it.  I can see why he's not.  It's a California King and is very heavy and had to turn.  Right now I have an impression where I sleep.  Oh well don't sleep well most nights anyway.
Primary SJS, dRTA, Osteroporis, OAB, stage 3 kidney disease, hypothyroid and high blood pressure.  Medicine I take are plaquenil, bicarb, prolia, synthroid, toprol and amolipine, citracal and vitamin D.  I use Arex and Azasite and Prolia.  I also have Reynaud's and osteoarthris of the toes

I LOVE my Tempur-Pedic mattress! I spend many a day curled up on it as it is the only place I get relief. I can sleep in any position on it and it takes the pressure off.

No. I do not like or love my mattress!
It is on our list this year to replace it. I believe we will buy a tempur-pedic.

I have gone so far as going to a store and laying down on them. The only negative I have heard is that of =heat transferance. That some people can feel over heated because their spouse body heat and theirs is trapped and expands the heat in the foam.

My sister has had one for 15 years for my brother in laws bad back and they still love it. My husbands brother and wife are getting a  memory foam topper to try out over their mattress to see if they like it. The topper alone is over $400.00..a costly experiment.

good luck on your mattress quest.

This coming Saturday marks 1-month with my new mattress . . . and I love it!!   ;D

This mattress is thicker than my old one - I almost have to jump to get into bed!  If I'm sitting on the edge of the bed my feet don't touch the ground.   ???

I have been sleeping better now that my bed isn't so hard (I had a firm mattress before).

So, I'm one happy camper with my new mattress.   :D

Wasn't there once a kids story about a princess a pea and a heap of mattresses, I am glad hear Bucky that you are sleeping much better and can't feel the pea.

I've got a good ole regular mattress. It's awesome! I got a pillow top one a while back, and it killed my back.

We have a pillow top one and love it. We bought it about 5 years ago now though, and paid about 600 for it then. It just works for us. I don't sleep good anymore, but it's not due to the mattress. I love my mattress.
