I woke up at 10:30 in the morning, didn't feel I had slept bad compared to most nights lately.
At 12:00 me and my BF walked for 15min to the health clinic so that I could have my bloodtests done.
It went well for once and they managed to hit the vein on first try, the attempts to make me think on other stuff was fairly epic fails though.
"Imagine yourself on a sunny beach" Um yeah sorry I can't do that ??? "Imagine yourself eating a gorgeous chocolate cake" Um yeah no can't do that either :P "So I see in your records you originally come from Finland, you must go back and visit your relatives a lot then?" Um no actually since I don't have a job I can't afford it, so I haven't seen any of them in years already...
I know she meant well but oh boy did I feel bad replying honestly after a while. ;D
Then we walked home for 15min and after that we didn't really do anything at all that took any kind of energy.
At 18.30 I hit a wall completely and started yawning every 2 minutes, almost fell asleep while petting the dog on his dog bed.
I would have fallen asleep on his bed if it weren't for the fact that he didn't find my company okay on his bed, apparently only okay when he joins me in my bed. :P
And eventually had to go to bed and sleep for 2h before I could function again, it's now 22:37 and I am starting to feel tired again.
Tomorrow the in-laws comes over in the evening, I NEED to be awake for that. :-[
And already having nightmare scenarios of falling asleep during this years "family Xmas dinner" if this continues.
Feels like babies and older people can get away with suddenly falling asleep it's just seen as endearing and such, but if I do it... not so much. :(
And I just don't understand what I did that ate up all my energy. :o

Took the bloodtests yesterday, today they called and said I need to do more bloodtests in 2 weeks time.
Anyone got any idea what this could mean?
Since I am coldly assuming my doctor is not a vampire who decided to drink the first batch. 8)

Hi,

I wonder if many of the Americans on this board know what "knackered" means? It's SO English! For their benefit, it means exhausted.

I know what you mean about falling asleep all the time - or wanting to. I wish I was a dog. I wish I was one of my dogs - what a great life they have. Totally spoilt and adored.

There are some blood tests that need repeating before they know what the answers are - I think the ones for Lupus maybe? Can you ask your doctor or the secretary?

I'm glad you explained what knackered means!! I thought it meant drunk! LOL....Which I wouldn't blame any of us for being! I am EXHAUSTED all the time - and have given up apologizing for it! My daughter comes home from high school asking...so what did you do today Mom....ummmm.....well.....slept most of the day..... "oh."   I tried hiding it from her - coz I felt like such a bum at first! But after reading so many posts here -I believe it's just part of the sickness - so what the hay - why not sleep?! : )

Without taking my provigil I am the same way. The provigil isn't a miracle, but it means getting some small tasks done or not in a day. That means a lot to me.

Not seeing him until the 14th was hoping someone would know, just feels like he could have told me beforehand that it would be more than 1 set of bloodtests.
Unless of course he found something really funky in them that he didn't expected... which I guess would be good as long as it means diagnose and medication!!!!

AHHRGHHHH!!!!

Just got a call this morning from the health centre AGAIN!!!
Now he feels my sugar levels maybe were a bit high so he wants another set of bloodtests on the 14th.
So no eating for several hours before (not a problem) but they are probably gonna have to keep changing arm to be able to see my veins. ;D
My arm looks like I've been attacked by a snake of some sort after the first bloodtest I did and I heal really REALLY slooooow.

Sympathies from a fellow pincushion. I'm actually writing from the lab here while having a 3 hr glucose test done. One thing I found helpful was to request a copy of all my labs for my own records. Now I can look up what the doc was testing for and what the results mean. I don't know that it actually changes the course of my care, but it gives me peace of ind to know exactly what is going on and why.

Cheers,
Mrs. Crary

"knackered"..........I would say it meant beyond tired,
totally whacked
shattered
beat
wiped out

Anyone got any other local terms for how we can feel when we hit that wall.

You might ask if they have a web site they post to as well. Both my gp and rhuemy make my labs securely available to my online.
I miss the good old days. Things were more like they used to be back then.
