Ana - Please don't take the pharmacy clerk's advice. I wouldn't use Vaseline on any part of my body, especially in the nose. Ayr makes a nice water based nasal gel. It's OK but I prefer to lightly steam a few times a day. My ENT turned me on to the facials steamers you buy at Bed, Bath and Beyond that are labeled for "wrinkles." He said it does nothing for wrinkles BUT will help your nose and throat. I have to have it in the cold, super dry winter months especially!

Hm will look into it, and as you say it's during the winter months when the heating is on that it becomes unbearable.
And no I don't intend on greasing my nose up with vaseline.  :P
Been trying to place jars of water near radiators to try and get more moisture in the air in the bedroom.
Can't afford anything extra atm so it's all about making do with what I got.  :-\

Just realized how much I NEED things to be in the right hand pocket.
Whenever my keys or lipbalm isn't in the right hand pocket I get that cold feeling down my spine; "NOOOO I didn't forget it at home did I!?".
Lost so many things in the house because of all those "good places" where you put things and then never ever find them again.   :P

Yep, and yep...love the hoodie sweatshirts.  I can have my cell in one pocket and keys/eyedrops in another.  I sewed a purse with extra pockets for all the balms and drops and mouth spray.

I'm home alot, too, so my robe pockets are my kangaroo pouches.   ;) Not that I'm in my robe all the time...ok, many days I am part of the day.  :-[

If I can't find something, I've probably put it in my robe pocket.  When the brain fog was worse, I was always finding pills in there!  Then I couldn't remember if they were ones I was supposed to take earlier, later; were they from last night?  Since I didn't remember putting them there in the first place!

Oh, putting things in a "good place" and forgetting them? Yep.  My husband laughed at me because when I moved things around and organized the closets, I typed little summary charts of what was in there and put it on the inside door.  He said "Going all Martha on us?"  ;)  Nope...just trying to find it later.

I actually carry a big "mom purse" that has a big section in the middle with all my meds. Yes. I also have 4 different types of lip balm, itch cream, biotene spray, eye drops, etc.....

My husband makes fun of me. I arrange a bunch of this stuff (and a big glass of water, of course) on my bedside table before I can go to sleep. You should see me when I have to travel for business. My suitcase is huge and people always comment. But I actually travel with a facial steamer for my throat/nose dryness!

KellyG

This sounds exactly like me!  (Except the facial steamer which I intend to look into).  While sleeping, I use a cool mist humidifier pointed directly on me from October through April. I have all my essentials in different stations around the house and work (anywhere I plant my rear for awhile) like by the TV and the computer.  I have the huge Mom purse.  My essentials include, different levels of eye drops/ointments, Blistex complete moisture lip balm, sugar-free Jolly Ranchers, Biotene gum, kleenex, and water.  I do the pouch thing when I walk the dog.

Ahhhhhhhh Narablueeyes, great minds "thinkin" a like! ;) :) :D

And the brain fog, oh my!  I don't bother to take out pills anymore other than to put them into a daily pill container - I often get confused if I don't work it that way (did I take the pill today?  Maybe, maybe not....and when?).

Thanks for the idea of putting extra pouches on my house coat; I wear them suckers out so fast as I usually wind up falling asleep in them (not intentionally that is :P).

I just hate carrying a purse around with me. It's uncomfortable.  I'm also afraid I'll leave it somewhere with everything important in it.  But now I need to have things with me.

I've tried several purses, but usually wind up just taking my license and debit card out and stuffing them in my jeans pocket.  Money in a front pocket. I keep looking for the perfect purse.  Lots of pockets, small, but just big enough to carry my iPad when I want to.

I found the perfect one at a craft fair yesterday - for $125.  So now I'm motivated to sew a purse.  The difficult part is planning all the pockets etc. before I sew any of the parts together.  This may be an iterative process. Hopefully not a lifetime quest.

I carry a 16 or 20oz bottle of water and a little leather backpack w/me everywhere.

It holds my Genteal eye drops (moderate & moderate to severe) plus I keep a spare bottle of eye drops in my desk at work. Ibuprofen (achy joint pain) & Excedrin (headaches), mobile w/charger, Kindle (for days w/Dr. appts) plus scripts or requests for blood tests if I need to get any that day. Some days I don't think even a vampire could keep up the amt of blood drs. need for testing.

I usually take all my meds in morning except for my 2nd dose of Plaquenil. If I know I will be out around dinner time, then I usu. place it in my pocket for later so I do not forget.

At night, I always have a bottle of water, eye drops, and sugarless candy. I take sips of water or decaf. tea while I read or knit to relax before bed.

OK, when I saw this thread, I thought it referred to belly flab! ROFL

Sooki, there is a brand of bag called Haiku that has styles with many pockets.  I have an older ToGo bag that holds everything I could possibly need, including a water bottle in an outside pocket. They have especially good sales.  haikubags.com

It always feel like the perfect purse only exists in ones own imagination, guess I should try and make my perfect one too.
No way I am paying those kind of amounts for a bag ever.  :o
Atm using a pretty much square bag with only one pocket inside which of course leaves me digging all over before I find anything.   :P

This is a great thread!  (Loved Prunella's comment, by the way!)

I suppose I have three sorts of pouches:

- my big handbag/purse which I load with water bottle, diary, purse, meds, lip balm etc and which I secure with the seat belt of my wheelchair.  It has three main pockets and then a couple of little internal ones - but I still lose stuff.

- the central section of my wheeled walker which holds a water bottle (of course!) plus spare folding walking stick, and whatever I've thrown in there.

- the pocket at the front of my (not sure what to call it) sort of muumuu from the time we lived in Zimbabwe.  I LOVE this garment as it covers all of me and more!

Sooki - can you describe the purse you found at the craft fair?  Like everyone else I'm still searching for the 'perfect' one.

I have everything in my purse:

bottle of water
aspirin
Aleve
Tylenol
Ibuprofen
antihistamine
beano ???
moistened wipes
reading glasses (for my husband)
umbrella
coupons
compass (no sense of direction at ALL)
lip balm
comb
lipstick

Everyone knows to ask me if someone has a headache, or sticky fingers.

This colder weather is drying me out something fierce!  I keep the humidifier running full tilt, and my husband assures me the one on the furnace is running too.

How do people live without a humidifier.  We've always had one, long before my Sicca.

I love how BF's and husbands don't want to carry a bag and mock us for using ours and then demand we hold something of theirs in our "silly bag".  :P
My BF doesn't like picking up the dog poop when we take the dog for a walk, but I gladly do it just for the chance of seeing my BF's face every time I hand him my bag and say "hold this while I pick up the poop". 8)
Extra funny since it has a big QUEEN logo on it (The band) with big pink letters saying QUEEN across the bottom, so he'll start turning it over to make it look just black while he holds it.
Priceless!  ;D

Prunella - the Haiku ToGo bag looks great. I'll bookmark the site and look for sales.  That could be the answer.

I may also to redesign my pattern to include those features, like a water bottle pocket.  My pattern will have shallow upright pockets for eyedrop vials and lip balm, medium depth pockets for my phone, and deep pen slots and eyeglass pocket.  An large outside pocket for ferry schedule, programs, map, etc..  Pocket for car keys.  Zippered pocket for license and cards.  Money probably in separate zippered coin purse.  Iterative project for sure!

The craft fair one was beautifully pieced fabrics in bright colors.  The shoulder strap was attached to the left front and right back top edges.  The strap then slid through metal loops on each opposite edge, so you could rummage around in while still on your shoulder, but it would close by gravity when you were done. (sorry - hard to describe in words)  It also had a magnetic snap to hold the edges together.  Then pockets inside and out.

I put all of my paraphernalia in a makeup bag, which I keep in my purse. Since I work, I have to have it portable. I leave it in my purse, cuz I'd just die not to have it at work.  I also keep most of the same things by my bed, and yet some more I keep with me in the front room.

Prunella,  I'll definitely check out the Haiku purses.

I thing I'll look at the steamer. I have a humidifier in my cpap, but right now I wish I had a little steamer to steam my face.

y'all sound like you take care of yourselves very well.  Me, I need to start taking better care of all my Sjs issues. Dry everything can be such a pain!

Another bag strategy that I use when I am using a bag without enough pockets, is to organize stuff into small zippered pouches.  Pouches aren't as easy to get into a attached pockets, but they beat the big cavern when I dump it all into one compartment.

My haiku ToGo bag is a muted green color, a suede sort of man made material. Fine for most occasions, but I didn't pay attention to the strap color when I bought it on line. Lime green! I usually wear it as a cross body bag.  The color may protect me if I wander into traffic. ;D

Healthy Back bags are also pretty good for organizing.
