Two days ago and yesterday I woke with an unbelievable amount of grit in my eyes. I thought it was my Sjogren's and I was frustrated when I could not get the grit out of my eyes. It was getting hard to see. Jan and I went out to run errands. As we were driving, my eyes started to clear. Then I thought, I bet the furnace filter needs to be changed. I pulled it out and it was really a mess. I put the new one in and the haze started to clear. I woke this morning with out crud in my eyes.

It is recommend that if you wish to sty healthy this time of year that you change your furnace filter every month.

GREAT advice, Joe.

I'll check with my 'handy man" aka husband.

And remind him to put the humidifier in our bedroom now, too.

Wow, Joe.  Good thinking! :)

Thanks for the reminder.  (I just realized we didn't check the batteries in the smoke alarms over the weekend, either.)

Great reminder, Joe!  I'll get my handyman on that (OK, make that handyperson because it's me and not my husband).  We have 5 cats in the house and I should change that darn thing every month.  And no, I'm not a crazy cat lady.  Yet. :)

I put in a summer filter and I need to put in some winter filters. I cleaned the Ionizers. Sometimes it is unbelievable how much they pull out of the air in just one day.

Good advice, Joe.

We have an electronic filter, so we clean it every month all year long (that's because I like to keep the furnace fan running at low speed all the time).  Like you, I really feel it when the filter needs cleaning.

LOL jmk, of course you're not.  I wish I could have five myself.

But I have known a couple of women (and one guy) who wound up with about 12 along the way.   I have a slight anxiety that I would go that way too!

I adore cats.

But if all 12 were like my Max,  demanding of my affection and wanting to sit right next to me at all times, the cat fights would be out of control, and I would be exhausted.

And if all 12 had the long thick coat of hair that Mia has (a Maine Coon) the filters would clog for sure.

We travelled once by car for 1800 miles with both cats, and the hair was totally everywhere and airborn by the third day.

we need an entire forum for cats, and dogs, too, of course.

Elaine,

We definitely need a separate forum for cat stories!

I love Maine Coons...my sister has one and he's still such a kitten at 13.

I'm glad to find a fellow cat lover on here.  Hopefully we will never get to 12 cats.  My husband would be long gone before that! When we got our most recent 2 months ago I had to promise a million times that it was the last one.  Now that I have to fill 5 bowls in the morning I think he's right. :)
