Suggestion about posting

Sometimes we need to quote a phrase from another member in order to avoid confusion when we respond to it.   However, there seems to be a trend toward pasting entire posts from others in our responding posts.  This requires readers to reread or scroll past redundant entries.

If I am following a thread, I have already read the post to which you refer.  Can we keep the pasting to a minimum to avoid so much redundancy?  Some of our members are limited in the amount of time they can sit and read (due to eyes or fatigue or other limitations.)

Thanks for considering my suggestion.   Have a good day!

I think that's a good suggestion.

As you say, it can be necessary to use that "quote" tab on occasion, but it seems we've gotten a little "quote crazy." :)  For some of us, it can be difficult to see what the last post was because of all the quote boxes.  It can be hard to see through the clutter.

Perhaps keeping it to a minimum will help all members be able to catch what was written, and therefore be able to better respond.
Take care,

It's possible to delete any portion of a quote to bring up just the part that a person replying wants to address (as I have done below).  Also, it is good to remember to post before the quote being replied to so it is easier for readers to ignore the quote if they believe any rereading is unnecessary for them.

Personally, I also like the longer, more detailed subject lines for new topics.  Something like "Question?" isn't very helpful now or certainly for later abilities to conduct a search.  Just my opinion.

Cheryl,

Thank you so much so your suggestion.  I'm one who can't read more than a few sentences at a time so unfortunately I tend to skip over these types of posts entirely.

Good suggestion, olmphoto2.  A detailed subject line is also helpful when doing a search for a specific topic.

Thankyou for that Cheryl

I personally find the blue area where it has been cut and pasted very hard to read because of the glare of the  colour.

I have been going to suggest this myself and find it very distracting.  Thanks everyone.  Lucy

The "quoting" has gotten much better.  Thank you, everyone!  ;)

I don't think any of us want to sound like the "Posting Police" and tell you how to write. We just want to make it so that all of our members and guests can read what you have to say.

That way we can all read and respond together, like we want to. Thanks again!  :)
