Yeah, Nara!  ;)  Hope you're feeling much better.  8)

Bucky, you sound like me.  I have an "old-school" desktop and desk, too, and I cannot seem to keep it from collecting stuff.  I really do try... :)   Today I began looking for an important paper and ended up cleaning out the desk and drawer again.  Had a pile of crap to throw out.

And I sometimes think I'm "organized," HA!

Carebear, I'm sure you'll be ready to show off that office.  :D  We have a tiny bedroom that would make a great office, but for now it's my sewing room.  My hope is to incorporate the two~ that could be a project for next year.

I got my pantry cleaned out last night.  I even cleaned out under the kitchen sink too.  I don't know what's gotten into me but I'm taking advantage of it while it lasts.  My feet are screaming obscenities at me tonight though.

As a sort of sidebar*  Don't products like makeup, antiseptics, peroxide, all the stuff we keep year after year (well-I do) lose their potency and are possibly dangerous after 6-12 months?  I have stuff that I get at a free gift with purchase of a beauty produce (usually) and I keep coming into these things that are in purses, closets and all over.  I am going to pitch all that.  My husband has shaving lotion that is probably 10 years old.  I think I will toss what I can of his (and replace).  This doesn't take much planing and effort and can be fun if you get in a pitch mood.  Clutter is not the way to go.  Lucy

Lucy - yes, they do lose their potency.  Here's a post that I made last year that has a list of how long you should keep things and when to get rid of them.  https://sjogrensworld.org/index.php?topic=11841.msg121596#msg121596

Have fun getting rid of the old stuff.   ;)

Hey Bucky
Am I to late to join? I really need to get rid of the clutter and clean out my basement. I am sorry to say it hasn't been done for about 3 years. It was all I could do to clean the other 2 floors so I never got around to it. We have had carpet rolled up in the garage for 3 years and this year by golly we are going to put it down. After we paint and get rid of about everything down there. We had a flood 3 years ago 2 weeks befor Christmas so that is why it is such a mess.

My other project is myself. I am going to start walking every day. My chiropractor said to start out 5 minutes a day and build up. Every time I try something happens to set me back. But I am going to listen and start at 5 minutes.

I hope everyone is sticking to their projects and I am not to late to join. Will keep you posted on my progress also
Love and prayers to all, harlin

Carebear

It's never too late to turn over a new leaf, Harlin!  Great projects, by the way.   :D

I started recording my food intake and exercise, one month ago today.  And I am very proud to say that while I enjoyed my Christmas dinner very much, including dessert, I did not over do it.   :D  I wasn't really trying to lose a lot of weight, but I'm down 4 pounds anyway.  I feel so much better...great way to start the new year.

I've also sold most of my items on Kijiji.  Only a few things remaining.

Time to go through my cosmetics...
Sjogren's syndrome, RA,  Raynaud's phenomenon, Celiac Disease, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Grave's Disease, Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Osteopenia, Cervical Stenosis

Gabapentin, Methotrexate, Synthroid, Dexilant, Domperidone, Metronidazole, Pennsaid, folic acid.

harlin - you're never too late!   ;)  Welcome aboard!   :D

Sounds like you have a project to keep you busy for a while.

Good luck on the walking project.  I wish there were sidewalks where I live, but we live out in a rural area and there aren't any.  You take your life into your own hands walking along the side of the road - especially, since there are curves by my house.  Wish we lived close to each other, we could do it together.   :)

Carebear - good job on losing the 4 lbs.!

I'm happy for you that you have sold most of your items you had on Kijiji.  Congrats!  I had made two fliers w/pictures and posted them with some items for sale and never did get any calls on any of it.   :(  Guess I'll have to resort to putting an ad in the newspaper.  (I was hoping to go the FREE route and not have to pay for an ad.)

Hard to believe it's the last few days of 2011!   :o

Have a good week everyone.

Bucky, I wish we lived near each other also! That would give us some insentive to keep going!
It is always better to walk with someone. My therapist says walking and
Talking with a friend is one of the best therapies there is.

This is a great thread that you post every year to keep us motivated!

Love and prayers to all

WYdry

Hi Bucky! I'm interested in joining this project to get a couple of rooms cleaned out! I'm not able to work on it every day but want to get them cleaned out and straightened up this year! Of course one of the rooms is my husband's "toy room" so that may take a while to get thru. Thanks for the great idea to support each other in our projects.

Bucky

Hi WYdry - glad to see you jump right in as a "newbie".   ;)

At work, I've started getting new files made for 2012.  Wish I could get motivated to do that at home!   ???  I guess when you get paid to do it, it makes a difference!  LOL

Most men's "toy rooms" are in the garage.   ;)  Unless of course, they are big into sports and then it consumes the whole house!!  My husband's "toys" are his cameras - wish he had a room specifically for them as they tend to end up in the living room.  He's kinda taken over a corner section in the living room with books, cameras, etc.   ::)

Good Luck on your projects - let us know how you're progressing.

Welcome WYdry!

I woke up this morning with woman issues that I won't get into but after a few hours, I just forced myself to get up and got two weeks worth of laundry done in an afternoon.  I'm pooped but feel quite satisfied.   8)

I think this is a wonderful way to start my new year!  I am so glad that I tripped over it!

I have so many things to do that my life often seems overwhelming, especially with my physical limitations.  So what I can commit to (without needing to be committed) is that I will choose one small task every day, strictly for my personal life.  I will choose one moderate task per week, and one major task to work on per month.  I will forgive myself if I don't finish all of them, and will not give up!

I want to sell my townhouse this year.  It needs painting, a cabinet replaced in the kitchen, and many little things.  I will start one room at a time beginning with my daughter's bedroom (she is going back to college next week) so that I can sit in there to remind myself that I CAN get it done bit by bit!  I might even try posting before and after photos!

Much support to you all!  I am enjoying reading your posts!

Bucky

MaryElven - glad you have decided to join us in our quest to get organized and get projects done around the house in 2012.

We have soooo many members here, that I don't always recognize names.  I see that you joined our forum in Oct. 2010.  If I didn't welcome you then, welcome now!   :D  There is a wealth of information here concerning Sjogren's and "other" things (which is what our Social board is all about).

It can be discouraging when we can't do things we use to do - but, it's not worth beating ourselves up over it.  It might take us longer to get things done - but slow and steady is a good thing (in my opinion).   ;)

Good luck with your projects - keep us posted on how you progress with them.

Hey everyone,
Just a little progress report from me to you! :)
Yesterday was a very productive day. Undecorated the church and also undecorated my house. I bought totes and organized all my Christmas things by rooms and labeled each box. Hopefully I can go to the basement and at least go thru one box with old Christmas stuff to either donate of throw away. I have the baby (11 months) today so I don't know what I will get done. But I am going to try!!

Everyone keep up the good work  :-*
hugs and prayers, harlin
