Coloring my hair while taking generic plaquenil?

Quick...the hair coloring box is right in front of me....I'm sooooo tempted.  I want to get rid of my grey..

but how will taking generic plaquenil affect the color?  Saw some postings around the web that it changes the coloring that you are trying to go for.....something about the chemicals. 

But then again, it is halloween.  I could just blame the holiday...

I've been coloring my hair myself for years, and I saw no difference. As long as I picked up the right box, that is!

I started coloring my hair myself right after I started generic plaquenil and have had nothing but really good results.  The color is maybe a little bit darker than the shade on the box.  So the next time I just bought one shade lighter.

I color my hair about 1 a month because of the greys.  I don't have any problems with the color and I also found that Dove Weightless Oils is great for my dry hair.

Oops, I'm now a red head.  Not the color I was going for...this is the normal shade I get...a light ash brown.  But, it turned red.  Oh well, a new me

I never had a problem years ago...wish I had some hair left to color...ha ha

 I haven't colored my hair but Plaquenil did bleach it out.  It is much lighter with a few dark blond streaks in it.  I sure was surprised when I learned that Plaquenil was the culprit.  Now I am losing  hair because of the methotrexate.  It is all dry and like straw.  oh, the joys of connective tissue disease!

The  Plaquenil also lightens my hair.

I am due to get my hair highlighted at the salon, I am wondering if I need to let the stylist know once I start taking the Plaquenil?  If it lightens it, it would save me a fortune on my regrowth (chance would be a fine thing)

Plaquenil doesn't make any difference in my hair coloring, either at home or the salon.  I doubt the stylist would know what "plaquenil" was if you asked her, but it can't hurt to find out.  Lucy

I wonder how plaquenil can lighten your hair - I have heard it aids hair growth, but some people have said theirs has fallen out.   I have lost quite a bit of hair, not too noticeable thank god, but I wouldnt want to lose any more.

My hair was much better on it...I learned that years ago when I stopped it and all my hair fell out and my SS got so much worse.

That's a new one on me.  I'm a natural blonde whose hair has gotten darker the past few years (on plaquenil).  But so has my sister's blonde hair.  I finally started highlighting it a couple years ago and love the results.

I couldn't understand why my hair was reddening up--come to find out it is the plaquenil!  I have found other posts who had the same problem, so just be prepared--u may get to be a redhead!  I still have my hair colored, but alway go with a color with ash in it to help tone down my red.

Yup....it sure did turn a little red...lol  That's ok though.  I'll get use to it and then in three months, do it again.
