Bucky, I know what you mean about having hubby compliment a meal. I means a lot. Also, my hubby never complains about a meal ( and I have had some clunkers) but he will say "you don't need to make that again" which means "yuk"lol Irish

Nara, yes, the cheesecake is rich and sweet. Actually not as sweet as you would think due to the semi sweet chocolate which is little on the bitter side but really adds to the flavor. IRish

Thanks, Irish, for that recipe.  I've made one similar and they are awesome!

I make a pumpkin cheesecake at Thanksgiving, which sounds a little strange to some, but is really good, too. I'll put the recipe here if anyone is interested.

Scottie, Indian take-out sounds good. Wish we had one around here. Our restaurant options don't have much diversity. (:  We are, after all, the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken!

It is blizzarding here like crazy. I am going to roast a chicken and make mashed potatoes and gravy and do some veggies.

If the day goes well (and the kids have shown they are not having a great day so far) we will make gingerbread men for the tree (which isn't up yet) and put up the tree. Possibly.  8)

Post it please!  My hubby LOVES pumpkin desserts!

Nara,

I'm catching up here.:)  The recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake:

CRUST:
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup chopped pecans

FILLING:
3 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 can (15 ounces) solid-pack pumpkin
1-1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt

TOPPING:
2 cups (16 ounces) sour cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
12 to 16 pecan halves
Directions
In a small bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and sugar; stir in butter. Press into the bottom of a 9-in. springform pan; chill.

For filling, in a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, beat on low speed just until combined. Stir in the pumpkin, spices and salt.
Pour into crust. Place pan on a baking sheet. Bake at 350? for 50 minutes.

Meanwhile, for topping, combine the sour cream, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Spread over filling; return to the oven for 5 minutes. Cool on rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around the edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer.
Refrigerate overnight. Remove sides of pan. Garnish each slice with a pecan half. Refrigerate leftovers.

This is fabulous! I brought one to my MIL's dinner a few years ago, and everyone turned up their noses until they tried a bite. Even the "cheesecake haters" loved it.  :D
It says to refrigerate leftovers; we never have any.

I roasted a hen; made gravy from the drippings; massed potatoes; mushroom stuffing; cranberry/cherry/pomegranate sauce and punkin pie.  I'm officially stuffed and tired.  Hope you all had a good holiday.

Nara,

Your dinner sounds like it was awesome.  ;)  Hope you'll try the cheesecake when you feel like doing it; it's really good.
I also hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  Ours was nice.  Big family gathering, some help cooking, and a nice time.

Meld, Wow, That recipe for the pumpkin cheese cake looks fantastic. I will have to make that for Christmas.

We have started ordering Pizza in for Christmas and it sure makes all the DIL's happy. This year I am going to make the gluten free pizza for son and hubby and I think I will bring that pumpkin cheese cake to top off the evening. So much for dieting. Irish ;D

I made Pumpkin Pancakes for breakfast.

I would love some gluten free ideas ie. pizza crusts, and a cake for my SIL at New Year's if anyone has any. Thank you!

Today our office had our Christmas breakfast extravaganza! And OMG! There was a potato casserole with cheese and onions and lots of stuff with crushed potato chips on top. I had it for breakfast AND for lunch.

Hey . . . no fair playing favorites!!   ;)

Sounds yummy!

I was just sitting here at the computer and decided to get out my little (and I mean, little) pail of caramel corn we got at our company party this past Monday evening.  You know how something sounds sooooo good . . . . then it's not?!   ???  Well, that is the story in this case.  It was sticky, gooey and sticking to my teeth.  I look at the tag on it - "best if used by Feb 2011"  ::)  I threw the rest of it away.   :(

Bet there's lots of yummy food / desserts being laid out this next week.
