Over the years, always been tested for thyroid, only thing that came back abnormal was my Free T3, which was low. Have every
symptom of thyroid, especially now......some of my doc's wanted me on T3 like Armour, the other doc's say that Im fine.

Finally got into a good endocronologist a few weeks ago and he said my Anti-thyroid-peroxidase is high (range 0.0-60.)
mine is 74.2..which, might indicate Hashi's now, but they dont want to start me on anything because my
TSH is 0.60 (range 0.30-5.10)
T4 is 1.05 (range 0.95-2.23)  and free T3 is low still. This is the first time I ever have shown elevated antibodies. My rheumy has tested
them at least twice a year and they were normal. He thinks giving me thyroid will make me hyperthyroid?

Dont know what to think....want some opinions...on 20mg of steriods and know that might interfere with labs?

I will check with my rheumy on this too.

Hi Gursie 

I recommend asking someone on the thyroid forum at About.com about this.

I know that some people find converting T4 to T3 difficult. That may account for your low T3 level (but I am no expert) Some people take a T3 supplement rather than thyroxine. Armour is T4 and T3. It's possible to get T3 on its own.

Selenium can help the conversion of T4 to T3. I take some every day. Eating brazil nuts would do it but the selenium supplement is cheaper!

I'm not in any medical field, and this is only my opinion, but you seem to be a bit high which is probably why the doctor doesn't want to treat you.  Scottie has a good point, google Mary Shomon and you'll find a wealth of information about the thyroid.

I guess the elevated antibodies means that my thyroid is being somewhat attacked...which makes sense since my SS/Lupus is out of control. Im taking the results to my rheumy.

Have you tried taking your temp in the morning when you wake up? I believe that is to help see if the thyroid is low.

My temp is always low...around 96...this has been a struggle for years...with the weight, hair loss, eyebrow loss, being cold..etc..
all the symptoms...now, its super bad. I just have a feeling my antibodies are attacking everything..my thyroid included. I think because ive
been sick and lost so much weight and very thin, they think its not a problem...but, I eat one small meal a day and dont lose weight either?
I should weigh 20 pounds for what I eat. I have every symptom of Hashi's...

Thyroid can mimic sjogrens for sure as well...im wondering if my autoimmune settles down, my thyroid might work better than?

we shall see...will get some more doc's opinions.
