I haven't had a beer or a glass of wine in years, hummm, a good icy beer sounds good just about now!  What brand would y'all recommend?

I like Amstel Light and for a special treat I choose one of the Unibroue beers.

Before I was diagnosed with SJS I assumed I'd become an alcoholic (even though I'd only have a beer or glass of wine or two in the evenings) because I woke up with what I now call the hangover-carsick-flu every morning. So I quit drinking for a few months but I never got any better.

Since my diagnosis I can drink if I want to --- but I really don't like it anymore.

As I've said, my life has COMPLETELY changed since SJS.    :(

Sjogrens, UCTD, and subacute cutaneous lupus. Flu-like symptoms, mouth & nasal ulcers, itchy rash, high cholesterol, headache, earache, tinnitis, dizziness. Hangover-like nausea, especially in the a.m.
Plaquenil, Atabrine, DHEA, Aleve, Evoxac, Allegra/Benedryl, esomeprazole.

Hey there,

I have developed a severe intolerance to alcohol...wine, beer, spirts you name it...just cant drink anymore and I love my nights out! Since all these stupid symptoms arose, my nights out are a rarity. Firstly because Im so tired I find it hard to stay up late and secondly, if i have more than 2 drinks I get violently sick. Like Ive been poisoned! I will start vomiting an hour or two after consuming the alcolhol, I will be up most of the night and into the next morning being sick. The last time I drank and this happened was a few weeks ago, I had about 5 glasses of wine at a friends birthday. The following day I started to flare really bad and my 'malar rash' reappeared and lasted a few days. Seriously thinking of just giving it up altogether...:(

That is too bad. It is nice to be able to relax over a glass of wine. I am always looking to see if it makes me flare. So far I seem to have only trouble with IC acting up with some wines and even that does not happen often. Maybe it is because I limit myself to about  oz that I can tolerate it.

I like to have a beer or two also. It helps take the pain away for a short time, but then I pay for it later. I'm so dried out.

I have stopped drinking coffee the last 4 days and I notice a huge difference.

The simple pleasures...I'm missing.

I like to drink wine and beer depending on my mood.  But since I've been investigating the possibility of having sjogren's it made me realize how dry my tongue gets.  This awareness has caused me not to enjoy it as much.  My favorite drink has been a Mike's Lime-ade during the summer time or a Blueberry Lemonade.  But, I just don't enjoy them as much in the past month.  Pretty much gave up on having them.

heck .. I won't even touch the coffee because it is drying ....

Oh A66eyroad, I too thought that I was drinking too much by drinking one or two beers/wine a night (had the same "hangover/flu" feelings in the am, and thought it was because of the alcohol).  Yeah, stopped drinking and still had the same feeling in the am (what's a girl to do? :()?

Don't miss drinking coffee much, but I do miss the caffeine jolt! :D

I sure miss the coffee but not really missing the booze!  always liked holiday drinks but family is gone now so holidays aren't as big of a celebration as before.   My husband loves coffee and the smell of the pot brewing when he gets home makes me want to sneak a cup :)

I too have a glass of wine once in a while and have not noticed any bad effects...but just one and maybe once or twice a week at the most.   I am not a beer drinker so that has not been an issue.

I believe in moderation in all things.  If it started bothering me though I would give it up and not miss it...it is more of a social thing....I carry the one drink around for hours.
