Beer, wine, and Sjogrens?

Since my Sjogrens began 2 months I haven't had any alcohol. I would like to have the occasional beer or glass of wine.  I've read that we should avoid alcohol because it is drying.   Also, I'm taking Evoxac, but I don't see anything about not drinking while on it.  Does anyone have the occasional drink?  How much do you drink? Does it cause everything to become drier?

Thanks!

I do in moderation sometimes it makes all this tolerable  :D i do not drink much because of meds but sometimes what the heck..

Well, I'm having a beer right now.  But it will stay at one beer and I save it for the weekend.  Alcohol in it's nature is dehydrating, so it stands to reason that it wouldn't be great for someone with dryness issues.  As for Evoxac, I have no idea.  But, with any drug that has increased bleeding, bruising, & gastrointestinal bleed warnings, like Plaquenil & any NSAID, alcohol can increase the chances of it happening.  But, with all of that said, I still have the occasional drink.  It takes the edge off the joint pain and somethings just taste better with beer or a glass of wine.  Is it the smartest thing I do?  No . . .

WHAT?  managing any of my various idiopathic conditions without drinking?

It can be done of course.

However, not by me.

A friend of mine who also has sjogrens, said that her Rheumy told her that alcoholic drinking can cause raynauds. She said she still has an drink  or two occasionally, but no more that that.

I may have a glass of wine once per year if I skip my meds in preparation. Most years I just do not have any. But then I have never been one for spirited drink. If you are looking to get high, you may want to try carrot juice. If you drink too much you will turn orange but will not have a hangover.

Never take Tylenol with any alcoholic beverage! It is a deadly combination and may take just one sip.

;D I think this is my favorite post ever  ;D

I haven't given up my ridiculously light beers (you know, the ones with only 64 calories). They have a very low alcohol content, and that's all I drink (I can't even handle a "regular" light beer - one will make me woozy) and wine gives me migraines so I've never been a wine drinker, but giving it up altogether ... oh gosh, not for me either  ;)

I have one or two glasses a week, and i feel no ill effects from it.

My husband is kind of a wine guy, likes to collect ect. And it is one if the few luxeries I allow myself, considering how much I have had to give up.

I have a glass of wine or 2 usually on Friday or Saturday night and haven't noticed any adverse effects.  I am on Plaquenil, Evoxac, BP meds, Lipitor.

I find coffee much more drying than wine so I gave up the coffee but not the wine. I ask my dr periodically if it is okay for me to have a glass of wine with dinner, especially if my meds have changed. She always says it is no problem. I have been through a lot this year and I think she figures an occasional glass of wine might do me more good than harm! I get vascular headaches and it seems to help relieve them - or maybe after a glass of wine I just don't mind that I have a headache as much!  ;)   I do limit myself to 6 oz tops. It is best to ask your dr if alcohol is okay for you.

I do have a glass of wine or a beer from time to time.  Usually once or twice a week, actually.  It's just a little piece of my peace, I have hung onto.  I sit with my husband on Friday and Saturday nights and have a drink. I use moderation and one glass, does help take the edge off... and honestly it helps me forget I'm "sick" for a little while.  I kind of joked with my husband about it being a blood thinner, which helps with the Antiphospholipid.
