Kathy,
It's so good to hear good news about Ben's progress!  He is still in my prayers, too.   May you have a safe trip, and I hope that you are allowed to visit Ben.  (I know that your being there will strengthen your sister!)

Kathy,

Thanks for the updates about Ben.  I can't even imagine what he and the family are going through.  I hope Ben has a good team of doctors that are tending to him - as it will be a long journey for him.

This journey will be the toughest thing for Ben, a young man of 19 yrs. old.  But, I'm convinced he will find the courage and strength to not let this tragedy in his life define who he is.  He will rise above this challenge and be a better person for it.

Wishing you safe travels as you go to be with your sister and BIL.  I too hope you will have a chance to see and talk with Ben.  Please let your family know that friends of yours ( :D) are keeping Ben and everyone in their prayers.

Be sure and take care of yourself too, Kathy.

Hugs,
Bucky

Thanks Ailsa

The trip went well, although we weren't able to see Ben. He's still in the critical care ward, so visiting is very limited. However, we did see my sister and her hubbie and gave them both lots of much needed hugs. They both look so tired, it was heartbreaking. My mum went with us, and got a bit upset at one point. However, she composed herself. She just feels so bad that her daughter is having to go through this, and she can't make it better.

Back to Ben, he hadn't been able to eat so far, as his throat was too sore from the tubes. This morning he had a couple of mouthfuls of toast. so that's a start. He also had a cup of tea, so another first. He was expecting to go on to the military ward today, but that hasn't happened, and he's fed up about that, but it should happen soon. At that point, the baby will be able to visit him, and he's longing for that.

While we were down there, the pardre came to visit. He was such a lovely man. He talked to my sister and her hubby about taking care of themselves, and trying to get some sort of normality back in their lives. So, they have decided to go home (150 miles) for a couple of days after the weekend. Ben's partner will stay at the hospital accommodation, so he will not be without visitors. They will go back next Wednesday - hopefully more relaxed and refreshed.

So, we had a long day, but it was just so good to be there for my sister.

I will update you when there is any more news.

Thank you for that update. We will continue to keep all of you in our prayers for this long haul. It does sound as though things are beginning to stabilize, which is good.

So glad you were able to go.  I'm sure your visit must have been a huge comfort for your sister and brother in law.  Hope you can have an easy few days now to get over the journey and all the emotional toil as well.  Thinking of you and hoping Ben can get moved very soon to the Military ward.   XX Ailsa

Have heard from my sister today that Ben has left critical car and is now on the military ward. He seems to have picked up enormously since the baby was allowed in to see him at the weekend. Food is still a challenge. He managed to eat one day, then spent the next being sick, but it is still early days since his bowel surgery.

Ben was meant to have his wounds dressed and some surgery on his bladder today, but an emergency came up, so that will happen tomorrow instead.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. As a 19 year old, Ben has a lot to face in the future, but we know your prayers will help him.

We are continuing to pray for Ben and your family.  This young man has given so much for the rest of us, God be with him.  It has to be heartbreaking for your sister, sometimes it is so much harder to watch those we love hurt.

Will keep Ben in my prayers. Cricket

Kathyx,

Continuing prayers for Ben and your family.  It sounds as if seeing the baby picked up his spirits and that's wonderful to hear.  I hope he is able to begin eating a bit in the near future and is not so sick from it.

More thoughts and prayers regarding his bladder surgery and a good outcome.
My thoughts are with you all.
Blessings,
Melinda
