I apologize up front to those of you who can't eat pizza.

I love a good pizza.  How about you?

Publix carries pizza dough in their Bakery and it's excellent.  They have a multi-grain dough that has sunflower seeds in it and there is nothing better.  Now, I've never had a true New York pizza, so I'm sure they're nothing compared to NY crusts; but, they're pretty darn good. ;D

We use Barilla spaghetti sauce which seems to be less watery than some other brands.  Tonight we're using the spicy sauce (living dangerously).  Pepperoni, green olives, and sun-dried tomatoes on my side of the pizza, a glass of vino and I'm set for the evening.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  You deserve it!

Take care,

I make my own pizza dough (very good if I might say so myself  :o) but I am totally stealing the idea of adding sunflower seeds.  That sounds fan-tab-u-lous!  I love sunflower seeds

Hi AI,

Do you mix yours in a bread machine?

I haven't made pizza dough since I got sick but I used to make a mean whole wheat one, and I did it by hand. It's not terribly hard, and you can add fresh herbs to it as you're making it... nummy

Hi AI,

Do you mix yours in a bread machine?

No, I bought myself a kitchenaid mixer last year on a clearance sale, love it!  I have never cooked in my entire life, I up and bought that and now make my own pizza, pasta, ice cream, etc.  I found the recipe online and it is a mix of bread flower and semolina.  I throw in basil into the dough, or red peppers, etc, never thought to add sunflower seeds.  I always used to add sunflower seeds when I ate spaghetti, it sounds perfect for pizza.  Oh my gosh, getting hungry  ;D

I enjoyed some gluten-free pizza tonight myself!  Just pineapple and cheese, but it really "hit the spot". ;D

carebear, Do you buy the Godfathers gluten free pizza??? Up in our neck of the woods we have a chain of pizza/chicken restaurants called Pizza Ranch and they now have a gluten free pizza that is better than the Godfathers.

We have bought the gluten free frozen ones for hubby and they were ok. I have also made many different home made gluten free pizza crusts and it is hard to find a good recipe that is short and sweet.

You would not believe how many ingredients some of these gluten free pizza crusts take. Hubby prefers the thin crust and that is very hard to do with gluten free. Irish ;D

I've tried a lot of the frozen gf pizzas & I don't like them.

We like Namaste crust mix ok, it's thinner. My daughter loves the Bob's red mill mix becsuse it's thick & chewy.

We now have 2 pizza places near us that do gf pizza & zeppes is the closest to a real pizza we've had.

We never eat fast food anymore anymore & have cut the processed food nearly out too but our once a month treat is pizza & Dairy Queen.  ;)

I would love a pizza,, but I cant getit down,, I;m down to soup,, wonder if they make a pizza flavored soup,,, tomato soup with peperoni maybe, all pureed in a blender

There are some wonderful italian soup recipes; if you can tolerate it, I found one that is sweet italian sausage, that you put together in the crock pot... I could look it up for you, if you'd like. You could most certainly alter a recipe to include your favorite pizza ingredients, and blend them into a tomato soup consitancy!

I too would love a slice of a good pizza!  Haven't had one of those since I can remember....hummmm, a pepperoni/sausage/with all the veggies would make a good dinner (the stomach will protest, but what the hey, right? ;)).

Hi Irish,

We don't have Godfathers pizza up here in the Great White North (unfortunately).  But I do buy my pizza from a local bakery that produces only gluten free product .  As you said, it's hard to find a very good gluten free pizza crust.  This one is the best I've had to date.  And I have tried a lot of them!  :P

Hey you guys, that's mean.  I just finished making 7.33 pounds of meat loaf and meat balls.  Now all I can think of is pizza!!!!

I also made 5 red peppers into roasted red peppers.  And I cooked off 1 pound of pasta for pasts salad.

Now I have to get together my "usual" ingredients for a thin crust pizza.  I use a tortilla as a crust.  I also use ratatouille(sp) as my sauce.  I get lots of veggies that way.  And I add everything but the kitchen sink.  I haven't gone glutten free or dairy free YET.  My sister has allergies to barley, eggs and cheese--I'm hoping to avoid having to cut out my favorite things--cheese!!!!

It's time for my afternoon nap.  I have also bought dough at Publix--but my store only carries the plain regular dough.

I wish you all a VERY GOOD WEEKEND!!!!!!  And HAPPY EATING!!!!!!

Shade

Hi bsnook,

Wow, what are you doing all the cooking for?  Are you putting it up for later meals?

When, I used to follow a vegan diet, I found a pretty good cheese substitute that worked.  Also, the fake pepperoni was good too.  There's some veggie products I refuse to give up; now I like them much better than meat.

Hope you enjoy your pizza!
