Pooter party . . .

Well, as embarrassing as it is . . . ah, what the heck, nothing is unusual to us Sjoggies, is it?!?   ;)  Last night after work, I ate dinner at 9:45 p.m. and then took my evening pills - one of which, is my Plaquenil.  My goodness, what a pooter party last night while I was "trying" to sleep.  Roll over, pooter.  Lay there, pooter.  It was ridiculous!  Thank goodness I sleep in a room by myself (hubby is a HUGE snorer, sleeps in separate room).

I know you're suppose to take Plaquenil with food - which I did.  Maybe, it was too late at night to take it and then go to bed?  Although, I didn't go to bed until a couple hrs. later.

Anyone else have these pooter parties when you take your Plaquenil?  (The doctor originally had me taking Plaquenil twice a day - once in the morning, then the second pill at night.  I had this pooter problem all day long when I took the morning pill, so he said I could drop that one, and just take the evening pill.  I would say 98% of the time, it's not a problem . . . then, you get nights like last night, and it's pooter, pooter, pooter.   ::) Strange!)

Bucky - who is glad I am pooter free today as I have to work tonight!   ;)

Bucky, I doubt it's Plaquenil related. My guess is that something in your diet is suspect, especially since you say you're taking it with food. Do you eat dairy foods? The older we get, the more likely we are to develop lactose intolerance. I suggest taking a full dose of Lactaid when you eat dairy products and see if  (hopefully) that resolves the issue.

Bucky- When I started taking Plaquenil I had the same exact problem. Didn't matter if I took it in the morning or night...pooter, pooter...pooter. It didn't change with time either. Pooter...pooter...pooter then after about 2 weeks it went pooter...pooter...pooter...then I'd go in my pants.

I messed myself so many times I lost count. Had to quit taking it. Even after reducing the dose 3 times.

PS...I love that word...pooter. Never heard it until now. Thanks for the laugh! Today I needed it!

Bucky,

That's a new description to me, too, for an age-old problem.  ;D You make me laugh!  My Dad always said his doctor told him "Better out than in..." telling him that releasing gas was good.  So, just one of things about life; sometimes we have pooters.

I also seemed to have more gas issues when first beginning Plaquenil, for about 2 weeks, (along with my head itching like I had fleas!) but after that it subsided. I second the notion that maybe it was something you ate if this doesn't happen often. Guess it's a good thing I take both my 200 mgs. at night before bed. My husband sleeps so soundly, he wouldn't know if I had a problem or not.  8)

For the first month I was on plaquinel I had the pooter problem.. It is not as bad now. SO I think it is the plaquinel. I never had that problem before.

Go to youtube and type in "pooter".  A guy named Jack Vale has created "the pooter", a handheld device that can re-create those wonderful sounds to shock and amaze those around you...it's hilarious!

amberjolie,

Oh, my goodness.  ;)  Our daughter's new MIL had a couple of these things with her the weekend of our daughter/her son's wedding.  The MIL is a big fan of silly pranks...she told her son she was going to use them at their reception, and he was terrified.  Thankfully, she was only teasing him.
