[One and only]

For anyone with central air,, it will constantly pump out water,, I use a bucket to collect the water and water my flowers and hanging plants, and with teh amount of humidity I have in the house,, it doesnt take long to fill a bucket, since I dont have a drain in my basement,, I have a pump which pumps the water outside, I attached a plastic hose to it and fill the bucket that way,, may sound like a lot of work, but those few gallons you get a day save you int eh long run on that water bill,,

Also, close off the vents in any room you dont use, tape tehm shut if you have too,, try to get as much cooling into the rooms you spend the most time in,, My Doxie doesnt even like this heat,, I have to drag him out to go to the bathroom,

I've done that with rain water.   Gosh I am surprised of the number of people who never heard of a rain barrel.

We have a window unit and the flowers grow really well underneath.

A word of caution though. Don't let your pets drink the water. I noticed my dog continually drinking the water and she became very ill and we had to make several trips to the vet.

In the days of cisterns there were some elaborate filters that had to be routinely cleaned out. The water had high bacteria levels that needed to be taken care of. I was glad when we moved back to civilized communities that treated and distributed water.

Yes Joe you are right. My vet said that the water was too full of bacteria for pets to drink. I just didn't know it at the time.

It doesn't seem to harm the flowers though.

Joe, I wonder how many people under the age of 50 even know what a cistern is?

I have to laugh at the government and the "green" ecology that they are pushing. This is something that we simple folks learned when we were kids from our parents. It is called "make do with what you have, eat all the food on your plate, save everything cause eventually you will use it for something and save rainwater, grow a garden and can your own food.

This is what we all knew for many generations. Somehow or another My eneration didn't do a very good job of passing this information down . Guess the children of my generation were all too busy working, making and spending money. Irish

Most kids today have no clue what a septic tank is,, we had a cistern when I was young,, darn thing would freeze up in the winter if it got really cold,,
