Hi Everyone,
I have been wanting a Ukelele for a while now and my hubbie insisted on buying one today.
With the help of chords and tabs off the internet, my whole family has had fun with it this afternoon.
It's nice to have something to smile about.

Hope you all have a good :)  day.

My Daughter has just started secondary school and they have a Ukelele band.
She has been in it for a whole year now and is starting to sound good.
So well done you, we all deserve to have some fun  :)

Joe, that just brought up a bad mental image,,

George Harrison of The Beatles was a big fan of the uke, so you're in really great company!  Have lots of fun!

Joe & One & Only,

I do agree with the mental images but I have to admit I did print up the chords for Tip Toe through the Tulips.

My kids are complaining I only printed up old songs....Beatles, Running Bear, etc ..... but hey, old songs are all I know.

We had great fun last night but the finger tips are a bit the worse for wear this morning - but I'm still smiling  :D

Aussie Mom,

That is great!  Sounds like the whole family is having fun together; isn't that wonderful?  ;)  My mother told me she played a ukelele as a girl back in the 1930's.  She said they were pretty popular at the time.  Maybe you'll bring them back in fashion!

So glad you've found something to smile about, and thanks for sharing it with us.

It has actually been great to sit around playing music and singing with the family at night rather than watching the TV.

Ukelele's have had a bit of a revival in Sydney lately, with many young "Trendies" going for lessons. Surprisingly, my 18 yr old son thinks the Uke is VERY COOL, and is keen to learn how to play it.

The kids have enjoyed some more modern music, we've found songs from ACDC, INXS, Queen, Meatloaf, Pink Floyd and Green Day. I'll have to get them to look a bit harder on the net for songs of their generation.

I think that is great that they are finding songs. If they do not have problems with dry mouth, maybe a harmonica would be good to add to your home band. I have had the kids make their own pan flute from clay and straws. I got a tambourine that they used for rhythm. It made for a fun year. Other parents got in the act with their kids also.

That's very inventive Joe, a pan flute from straws and clay!  And that does sound like it was a wonderful musical year!

I stand corrected, Aussie mom!  See how much I don't know?  ;)  I didn't realize ukeleles were so popular.  I'm obviously "out of the loop".  I'm glad you're all having great fun.

I must admit - singing AC/DC songs accompanied by a ukelele is bizarre.
