Hello,

For those of you who were familiar with my job search, just thought I'd drop a line to let you know that I finally found a job, after 8 months being without!  Yay!

Now of course I'm a bit nervous whether some of my symptoms might make a full time job difficult, but I'll worry about that later!  Right now I'm excited!

I am happy for you! As a working professional with SjS and other fun ailments, I understand your concern. Try to keep a positive attitude and expect your health to cooperate. Some days it will, and some days it won't - but I tell myself that staying home wouldn't really change that for me. I know you'll do great.

What will you be doing?

Hey Well Done to you..

I think the benefits of working outweigh the symptoms of SjS (in most cases)

I started a job part time a year ago and although I get tired an battle through some symptoms, I thoroughly enjoy my job (except the paperwork :p) and its great to have that working relationship with people again.. For me, working is definitely better than being at home.  I find the less you do the less you feel like doing and tiredness becomes an issue too despite the lack of doing..

I know that some people really are unable to work.  I am so grateful that I am not one of them.  If you can find a balance and enjoy your job, that will bring lots of benefits to your mental and physical health

Hope it all goes well
God bless
Paula :)

Congratulations! I hope your new job goes well and that you manage it OK. I find work keeps my mind focused on other things rather than how I'm feeling. It keeps me sane.

I love reading good news. Good luck!

Take care - Scottie  :)

Absolutely excellent news.  It's all smoke and mirrors.  Brains and experience make all the difference.  You will be great!

Hello!
For those of you who wanted more details, I can give a few, but I'm one of those paranoid people who don't like giving too much info on the internet, so you'll have to bear with me  :D

I'll be working in research in a manufacturing facility.  Improving quality, updating processes, that sort of thing.  So I'll be leading projects aimed at improvement.  I hope my brain fog doesn't get too bad!  But it's straight days, except for the odd overtime if there are trials, so that's good.  And the commute's not too bad, about 45 minutes tops.

Congrats again on your new job, it sounds like it'll be a perfect fit!

Your commute can be made MUCH more enjoyable if you've got an iPod or other MP3 player. I download books for free from my library and honestly, I can't wait to get in the car some mornings! What with traffic and all the stresses of the drive (I drive about an hour each way, depending on traffic) having something fun to do in the car has made all the difference in my stress level.
