Update on Lyric Hearing Aids.

Hi Angels,

I had my first set of Lyric Hearing aids removed today, with a new set put in.

Mine were doing fine but I was nearing the four month battery life limit and getting ready to travel for two weeks.

I didn't want them running down while I was away, so the audiologist put in new ones today.

I had no irritation in my ear canals, and the new ones feel just fine.

I couldn't BE happier with these aids.

I wear them 24/7, in the shower and doing water aerobics at the pool three or four times a week.   I turn them down for sleeping, and up when I wake up.

That's IT.   No batteries to change, nothing to take off and put on and drop and fiddle with.

The sound is totally natural.   Well as natural as I remember.  Since I don't hear normally, I guess I can't compare.

But much nicer than the external digital hearing aids that I still have as back up.

The worst part is the cost, but I have it paid automatically each month, so I don't see the money go.   So that's easier.

And I gave up my cleaning service, to help off set the cost.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Hugs

Oh Joe,

The monthly cleaning service cost WAS less than the Lyric hearing aids, BUT giving up the service makes the difference only $130 a month.

That doesn't seem as daunting as the total cost, right?

Money I DON'T spend on the cleaning service is diverted to the payment for the hearing aids.

Also when I don't buy a Jaguar I pay for other things!!!!   LOL, well not quite, but I did have the cleaning service, and now I don't.

The point of these hearing aids is that you have a substantial annual cost which covers switching out the hearing aids up to 8 times a year.  Tho' the battery can last for 4 months, humidity and ear wax can substantially reduce the life of the battery.   I think the average is about 6 weeks.   So my almost 12 weeks is excellent.

In fact my doctor told me to come in earlier, at about 3 months, to get the switch.   Since I surely won't come near 8 sets a year if I have the 'luck' I've had with the first set.

Who knows, the battery life may vary from set to set.   I am very conscientious with  care for my Lyrics.  I try to keep water out, both in the pool and in the shower. and dry my ears carefully and use a hair dryer to dry my ears as well.

I think the biggest key is I don't produce much ear wax between my ear drum and the speaker of the aid.   If you see how tiny they are, they are miracles of engineering.

I really love having them.

Hey Elaine,

I'm glad to hear that your hearing aids are working well for you!  I have the "mini" and though they're not neat as yours, they're not half bad.

Do you have a problem with ear wax by chance (I have to laugh...the audiologist still remarks that my ears don't produce any wax (not surprised at all with SJS :)))?

Ah Patze,

As long as the ear wax is on the outside of the Lyrics, and not between the Lyric and the eardrum, all is well.

And I don't have very much, probably because I don't have all that of any 'secretions' if you follow!

A bit of external wax is no problem, only wax that could block the speaker next to my ear drum.

So all is well.

I do adore them.
