Hi

Exactly a week ago I discovered money had been stolen from my coat pocket at work. It's a concealed pocket. There is no way it could have fallen out. The day I found it there was no point telling the police because everyone had left the building - it had been busy - and it would have been pointless.

Today we caught the thief. I left my coat in the same place and money went - but this time I had a note of its number. We called the police and the note was recovered. After a dental appointment I had to go to a police station and make a statement.  It gives me no pleasure however. I won't get the lost money back and will probably have to work with the culprit for the next two years.

Thanks for listening. Scottie

Oh that is hard. I hope that things work out for you and that you do not have to work with this person. Be happy that you still have a job and can work.

Scottie, was it a student or a coworker?  I'm glad that the mystery is solved, but I can understand that you don't feel good about it.  Here's hoping that it won't happen again.

Hi Cheryl - it was a student. We've worked with thieves before but they have never stolen from us.  :(

Oh Scottie.  That's awful when you all work so hard to help these young people, wearing yourselves out with extra activities and holidays for them.

Surely something like that should mean that the culprit can't take part in any of the extras?  Or is there nothing you can do beyond hand the matter over to the police?

Thinking of you - Chickpea

Oh Scottie:

Not only is it a terrible feeling of invasion, but the loss of the money hurts, AND then you have to spend time dealing with it.

You are more inconvenienced than the thief!

I guess secret pockets don't stay so secret, either.

Keep us posted.

Don't let the turkeys get you down.

Hi Scottie,

Glad you found the thief, but sorry that you lost the money and now have to deal with the after effects of working with the person. I can only imagine how difficult;lt that has to be for you.

Hugs....

I had a similar circumstance a couple of years ago.  It was a co-worker who stole my wallet out of my purse that was in my purse, in my unlocked office.

Since that happened, I have never left my office unlocked.  I have very strong suspeicions about who it was who stole the money, but could not prove it, of course.  Very disheartening as I continue to work with the person.
