Well it's been one of those weeks. Went to the doctor, cant seem to get blood pressure under control.
My Doctor increased dosage of medicine. Had a bad tachycardia episode and was up all night. Walked
Mr. Duffy out to the mailbox and OH BOY!   Mr. Duffy saw another dog and pulled so hard it caught
me off guard. Dog went one way, my right foot went the other! I felt something in my foot snap. It all
happenend so fast.
      By the time my son came home from work, I couldn't put my foot on the floor. The pain was
terrible. I went tot the ER, but only stayed 30 minutes, There were about a hundred people before me
and two people had just been shot. It was crazy there. Didn't sleep again and went to my PCP next
morning. Said that I pulled tendons in my foot, and it will take 8 weeks to heal. My SJS is really
acting up. Didn't need this. Have you ever injured your self doing something so simple?

Yes, indeed, Mr Duffy.... I have   I fell over the cat once, and broke a bone in my hand - it's a long story, which I won't go into now, but I can say that I was taken much more seriously at the ER than when I went a couple of times when feeling very bad from sjogren's problems 

Tendon pains can be soooooo painful and rest seems to be the most important thing - did the doctor suggest an ace bandage - that helps too.   I sure hope you feel better soon!

Yes. In fact, I've noticed that when my Sjogren's is bad, my body seems to be more delicate. Things that normally wouldn't cause problems seem to blow up out of proportion and take a lot longer to heal.

Sorry about your accident and I hope you find relief and healing quickly.

Wow, I'm so sorry that happened.  Our little ones can be hazardous sometimes bless their heart.  I broke my toe once trying to stop my dog from running out the door (she used to bolt out the front door when given the opportunity) when I instinctively tried to block her with my leg and jammed my foot into the door.

Take it easy and hoping a quick healing for you.

Oh, I'm so sorry!  I do understand. I fell down the stairs and ripped the tendons in my ankle this winter. I wasn't rushing or carrying a heavy load. Not really sure what happened. Just lost my footing. The ortho guy said ripped tendons are worse than a break. I was in a permanent cast, then an air cast, and then a boot for 10 weeks. Even now it is still tender. My rheummy gave me an RX for Vitamin D, which he said would hurry the healing. No idea if it worked...but didn't hurt anyway and might be worth a try for you too.

Hang in there and be gentle with yourself. I hope the time goes quickly for you!

            Thank you all for your kind replies. I don't feel so bad now.
          My family thinks these things only happen to me. No more
          walks from me for awhile for Mr. Duffy!

Hugs to you Mr. Duffy you are not alone at all. 

Just two weeks ago I was walking my dog with a long leash in a wooded area.  My cute adorable little dog who saw something (likely was a squirrel) and decided to go for it!  Just as she pulled, I stepped on a piece of ice and down I went hard and the leash got dropped.  Then for the better part of 3 or 4 minutes I was doing my best impression of a turtle on its back before I could drag myself up.  By this time, dog has since treed squirrel and has come back to sniff Mom to try and figure out why I was doing the turtle mambo.  Literally dragged myself back to the car, where dog eagerly jumped into back seat and sat looking out the window with happlily wagging tail.

Meanwhile, affected leg wouldn't bend at the hip, and a huge softball sized bump quickly appeared.  Xrays done the next day, and a bone chip is seen.  So here I am now, was just told by PCP to stay off of leg for a four more weeks and keep it raised and apply a prescription anti-inflammatory liquid to it.    Sigh.....   Thinking of changing my last name to Klutz.  Lol

           I feel so sorry what happened to you. I really hope you heal
           quickly. Just think, our beloved dogs don't have a clue what
           they did!
               My three grown sons call me a jinx, but klutz would fit me

Oh dear Mr.Duffy:

Pulled tendons are almost worse than broken bones.   They take a long time to really heal because they don't have  good blood supply.

Just take it easy.

I knew a guy who broke his leg falling over his briefcase while waiting for his commuter train.

Funny to other people but not the least bit funny, really.

It's hard to now we're all one misstep away from a disaster!   So best NOT to think about it.

I got an odd one.  This happened to me about 12 years ago.
How about breaking your big toe by dropping an EMPTY metal garbage can on it? 
  I was taking the plastic bag out of the garbage can and the can hit right on my toe.

Wish you had the "InstaCare" places we do. They are affiliated with the two hospitals here and are open until 9pm weekdays, til 5pm Saturday and till noon Sunday. Every place should have these. 
You really wonder why they call places Emergency rooms!!!!!!!

Have you ever injured your self doing something so simple?

Yes, I once ruined a wonderful vacation in Ft. Lauderdale while in college by stepping off a sidewalk and spraining my ankle.  I still remember holding everyone elses purses while they rode the rides at an amusement park.
BTW if it isn't obvious from these postings, pets are one of the most dangerous things in our homes.  Be careful out there!

After my back surgery last November, before I was discharged from the hospital, the surgeon was asking me about my home set up and when he found out I had 2 small dogs, he told me if they got underfoot to just step on them rather than risk hurting myself trying to avoid stepping on them.....I accidently did 2 times and they have been much more careful around me since then!  Poor puppies, but they are fine!
