Sad-Dr retiring

We each got a letter in the mail from our colon doctor.  I thought maybe he was reminding us it was time to schedule a colonoscopy or he was moving his office.

Mind you, this dr is of retirement age (about my age) and I've had polyps removed many times.  I've been going to him for 30 years.  I keep having more polyps with each colonoscopy.  My older sister died in 09 from colon cancer.  She lives in Pa, so no he wasn't her doc, but I even more aware of this now.
I am so sad this doc has retired.  He gave us referrals and I'm sure the group is great. I will miss him.  As you see a doc over the years, you get to know them and their personality.  Dr. F. I hope you enjoy your retirement and I will miss you.  Lucy

Awww.  :'( I know how sad that is! I was going to a  great GP back in the mid-80s and after about 6 yrs he retired. I still miss him and was even talking about him today. He was THE nicest man!

It is hard when you have a dr you've gone to for years retire. I remember when the dr that brought me into the world retired.  Good thing was I would run into him at the nearby pharmacy and always give him a big hug. He was a gruff no nonsense dr with a heart of gold.    Can you imagine the long golf pants and shirts of the 40s guys wore golfing? That is what he always wore in the office. He was a character and I miss him a whole lot - he passed away in 2009.

Good he is referring you to another dr.  He knows you and what type of dr personality you'd get along with. My current gp is great. He knows just telling me I'm going to do something doesn't work. He explains what is wrong and what is needed and why he is prescribing this medication. Though he has a totally different attitude about "specialists" due to my 6 yr SJS diagnosis journey, he doesn't hesitate to sent me to someone that knows more than he does.  It took awhile but he dresses better now too. When I first started going to him, all he wore was cordoury suits. LOL.   I get the charaters and I love em!   :D ;D
