Kay says...

Tease is a bay tovero and Annie is a black tovero. Their markings are almost identical. The medicine hat makes them overo and then they have the Tobiano markings on the body. I suspect they are both homozygous for Tobiano but have never tested Tease. That would mean they will produce pinto babies even when bred to solid colored stallions.

Thats todays equine color lesson lol. I am fascinated by equine color so have studied it for years.

And a little more info from Kay...

Black is a minimal Tobiano. We color tested him as people didnt believe me LOL. He has no body white but 4 white legs and a split tail. He has never had a solid foal but has had minimal pintos like himself. Jack would be one and so is Shammy (Feature is Shammys sire and although she kind looks solid she isnt) They "look" solid but are genetically pinto.

A true solid horse cannot produce a pinto unless bred to a pinto.

Hope that makes sense

Update from Kay...
I think poor Annie was getting too hot and tired. I put a second fan in there so I hope that helps. Its going to be very hot for the next few days so we may have to leave the stall open at night and closed during the day.

Even though I slept last night I swear I feel more tired. Its so strange. I may take a nap. I need to work but I am just too tired still

And from a fellow quilter on QB...thank you!!! :)

:'( Unfortunately, Annie's fever has gone back up, quite high.  She been given meds and willl have her temp re taken around 9 ET and be given a shot then too.  Please pray for all.  Just trying to separate Tease and Annie to accomplish this is likely to be very stressful.  I will have to be offline shortly.  Please go ahead and post here, anyone who may find updates. :'(

On cam, Annie is looking 'happy and healthy' to appearances...

I will try to catch up on any pertinent posts soon and let you know.

FYI...my computer was making some very strange noises at me yesterday evening.  If I suddenly stop posting, please, any who may have access to more recent info please go ahead and post. Kay does the most detailed posting  on the Quilting Board forum whose main home page is here:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/
Look for Personal Diaries and Announcements for Kay's Thread.  I'm thinking/hoping it is public. You might have to click "All Sections" to bring that up.  The Baxters are on FaceBook for their farm too I found out a few days ago.  It would be a matter of making a friend request rather than just clicking a 'like' button---but Kay has been adding many people recently, so feel free to go ahead and make a request if you are on FB:

Their Marestare thread is here for now, though this might not be the most recent page:

Also, please be aware that I am in some kind of flare now it appears AND our daughter and SIL will be coming into town this weekend.  Please pray for us all:  Sarah is an RN---a nurse as I am :)---who does hospice work.  Now we need to have the important discussion with my SisIL and very confused and ill MIL on whether it is time to begin these services for my MIL.)

I see that Brookhaven Minis had a foaling overnight, I don't have details yet.  :D

gm ladies

She looks pretty good! Im so hoping at shot time that all is normal. Shes going to get another dose of fever med even if the temp is good just to ward it off.

I am going to take them out and hand walk them before Russ goes to work today.

Okay I have to go read backwards now lol  [Note from Mary Ann...this means to catch up on all the 'nursing notes' Annie's QB aunties made overnight  :D---I'll still try to make one or two summary posts from last evening's goings on for y'all here :)]

When I mentioned that I was going to be reading through the evening and night posts, Kay very kindly wrote:

Mary Ann Annie had a very uneventful night thank goodness

And then...

The vet feels Tease is fine all her vitals have been good. And shes milking like a cow so thats good too.

I just didnt know how common it was to have a septic foal go up and down. Sally said they are always like a roller coaster.

I dont think the heat helped a thing

I can tell shes gained weight as shes getting heavier everytime I pick her up lol

thanks a lot Sharon we need more rain like I need another hold in my head LOL

I am going to hand walk them hopefully after her shot

Also:

I just looked and they are calling for severe thunderstorms off [NB: Thornville OH for those who might wish to check Baxter's local weather] and on the next 3 days. someone just shoot me now.

Tonights are supposed to be especially bad with high winds and hail. Hope the cam holds in!
