Kay has posted this a bit ago on the quilting board forum I frequent.

"Okay have to share this picture of Baxters Black Fashionista. This was Stars filly that I didnt want to sell but had to lol. I adore her owner! She just showed and got reserve jr champion mare. She is just stunning! Im so proud of her. This is Jacks full sister"

BTW, Marestare has a board called "2011 Nursery" under "Mare Stare Cams Foaling Alerts and Updates"*:

http://latigo.marestare.com/forum/index.php?board=90.0

You can find some continuing info about colts and fillys foaled this season.

Birth video replays get put up there sometimes, specifically under this subtopic thread:

Owner posted on Marestare...

Robin delivered a colt (filly fairy must be afraid of the guineas )at 3:55am 6-5-11. He is dark with both front feet having white and both back legs having white, he also has a LITTLE tuft of white on his tail head. Robin is a little leary of our help, she has never foaled with help or inside for that matter. Baby is fiesty and has already given mom a couple of bucks when she was licking his bum. Robin has had some banamine to help with the after pains. Thank you to those who called, it is very appreciated. Marestare groupies are the best. Duane was sleeping in the cam room and was watching off/on. April is at a horse show and has been called. She is very disappointed that she was not here but assumed Robin would deliver while she was away. She will be home tomorrow in the late afternoon/early evening. Melanie

I'm reposting this from my post of ten days ago, with some additional information and a few comments, for anyone who may be interested:

For anyone who wants to know about the Barn Alarm (TM) Monitor (or who may just be joining us on this thread):

It's a service for owners and watchers offered by Marestare.

It's here:

http://www.marestare.com/barnalarm/#

When a mare looks like there is some action ready to happen, an owner will either signal a low alert (mare appears in labor---galloping sound) or high alert (it's happening---whinnying)---at least that's my take on it on when an owner choses to trigger an alarm.

When an alarm is active for any farm, it will appear in the lower right hand corner of the Barn Alarm page. You can minimize this page if you wish and it will still be active.

It says on that page:  "Click on the farm name [lower listing] to open the cam page. Click on the message [above] to clear it. If you want to get it back, refresh this page.

Clicking "Silence" will stop the current sound from playing. Clicking "Mute" will stop all sounds, even future alert sounds. Click "Unmute" to turn sounds back on"

I have learned that for me clicking on a farm name doesn't always open the particular farm cam for me as for some reason my 'puter is now treating it as a pop up.  I have Windows7 and have found that to get around this---or any pop up restriction I don't want on a web page---I just press Ctrl and hold it too as I click the farm name.  Then I can get the cam to come up.

Your speakers need to be on to hear it of course, at whatever volume level you wish.  If I'm in another room, I turn them up.  Overnight, I turn them completely down or off.  However, I leave the Barn Alarm window open (minimized for overnight) so that I can check in the morning for alerts or births overnight.  I have Tease up on the screen of course!   :D ::)  Gotta check her if I'm up in the middle of the night, also checking to make sure the cam is still 'rolling' for me and doesn't need a press on the F5 key to refresh her cam stream.

--------

Not all births will be caught by this system.  The main reason for the existence of MareStare is to provide extra eyes to watch the mares as unattended foalings could go wrong.  The owner receives extra pairs of eyes watching their animals while we can view this amazing journey to new life!  :)

Some of us do watch certain mares even though they are not on any alarm right now.  We watch Kay's current mare on cam who is "Just Teasing 'Ya" or Tease.  Allowing us the wonderful opportunity to view Kay and Rusty's farm cam foaling stall and a possible birth is why I began this thread.
http://www.marestare.com/fcam.php/alias=baxterspainted

(Over time we saw two other of their pregnant mares who have since foaled.)  As a Sjogren's person, a need distractions, things to  get me 'out of myself'...my pain and frequent isolation. And so many times I find this touches my heart!

A few weeks back, at varying intervals, I started to check in at a few of the MareStare site pages and learn of farms that may have mares on cams who could be near foaling.  In addition to KayKay's Tease, I look here to find comments about mares who may be getting close to foaling: http://latigo.marestare.com/forum/index.php?board=6.0
or the Marestare calendar of due dates:
http://sonny.marestare.com/calendar/month.php
Often I'll check in on a mare cam that I find has been mentioned on the quilting board thread :)
If you are of a mind to do a bit a searching yourself, you just may hit on some Marestare 'gold'  Mares are very unpredictable in their foaling, pregnant for 320 to 370 days on average, with the largest number of births falling near 340 days gestation.

Want to see what labor and birth look like if you haven't witnessed a foaling?  Want info from postings about these colts and fillys and moms since the blessed event? Check here:

Happy MareStaring everyone!!!

P.S.  Note to all...please feel free to post here, discuss back and forth, laugh and share.  As the person who began this thread I can assure you that cross talk on this thread is fine by me!  :)  :D

My goodness Ms. Tease . . . . we all have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting on you to have that baby of yours already!!  I just hope you will be able to deliver with no problems as you are HUGE!!

Olmphoto2 - is there just one birthing stall at Baxter's?  Tease has been occupying it for some time!!  Are there any other mama's-in-waiting at Baxter's?

June 5th sounds like a good date to have this baby Tease!!  hint, hint   ;)

Just please don't have it during our SJS World chat tonight - okay?!   :D  (that means between 9-10 p.m. Ohio time)

The cam has been fading in and out, I hope I don't miss anything when the action begins!

I can't believe we are still waiting on Tease!!!  Tonight is going to be the night......I can just feel it....I have really enjoyed watching Tease and many of the others.  I keep the Marestare Foal alert on when I am home.  I've been able to watch several foalings and check on several of my "favorite" mares, but Tease is my favorite!  Hope she foals tonight!

Nancy

Nancy, Bucky, Kimbo, Always...so glad you came out to play!

Nancy, what is the saying?  "From your lips to God's ears!"

Bucky, yes, we are all hoping so hard for a good delivery for Tease, aren't we? ....she is certainly huge.

There is just one stall Kay uses for foaling I believe. This year was complicated for the Baxters as at on point all but that one stall was flooded with the seemingly unending rains.  Feature had to be boarded elsewhere and just came home this weekend.  Tease is the last mama-in-waiting this year at Baxter's Painted Pasture.

June 5th WOULD be a great day to see a little colt or filly for Tease. Oh, no, though...right, not during our SJS World chat tonight!

Kimbo, watching and waiting are our exactly our key words, aren't they?

Always, I'm so glad you've enjoyed your experiences with marestaring.  Thank you for your kind words! This is all bew to me this year too.

Kay says this evening:

I sooooooooo hope its tonight! Im trying not to get too excited.

Im going to take a shower and then go out and try to wrap her tail just in case tonight is the night.

Ruby is home tonight and said she will record on the flip cam (like we did patches)

------------------

okay rusty beat me to the shower. He had to stack hay and its horribly humid out.

I see lots of belly kicking already tonight.

Im praying so hard for an easy delivery for Tease

-------------------

Usually Feature and Black have very distinctive looking foals but I will probably have to do DNA tests on the foal and dam etc to be sure [who the Daddy is ] since the date was so far off. I have to submit a stallion report every year and ummm I am thinking they will not match.

And yes I think some of her weight is because we upped her feed too soon thinking she was due in april LOL.

If I am online you will see me typing and I usually post "on my way out"

Okay my turn for the shower!

You can tell Tease is VERY uncomfortable - she's been all over that stall.  I saw Kay  wrapped a teeny tiny bit of her tail, but I don't see it now.

Come on Tease . . . you can do it, girl.  You'll feel so much better once you deliver.

It's hard to tell with the cam if Tease's belly is actually moving or it's the cam.

Thanks Kay for wiping off the cam.   :D
