Harlin, this is such a sad time for you. Let your sister know that you are there for her whenever she needs you. All unexpected deaths are such a shock but to take your own life brings an extra sadness.

My heart goes out to you, your sister and the children as I have experienced suicide in my family as well.

I'm so sorry to hear of this tragedy in your family. Our family endured this; my oldest sister took her own life when she was 32.  She was a wife and mother to 3 young children. I was 13 at the time and I adored her.

Suicide is something that is so hard for us to understand and to come to grips with. We are left asking ourselves "why?" I hope your sister will open up to you in the future. Maybe it's just too soon for her right now. So many people have dealt with this crisis, unfortunately.  I think it's still just not talked about enough and not enough about how to heal.

Right now, take care of yourself. As someone mentioned, if you can, please try to reach out to her children in a special way. Many times adults in the family are so overwhelmed they tend to forget how the children are grieving in their own way. Counseling for them is imperative, and most likely your sister and others in your famly.

My heart goes out to you and I send prayers for peace, dear. Your friends are here for you...

when my mama passed away (she was my bestie ) it was truly hard ta let ANY1 be there 4 me

I am sitting here reading all the wonderful and thoughtful posts thru all the tears. It has really effected our family. I still can't believe this has happened. I can't seem to quit crying. I have a therapist appt tomorrow. My heart aches for their family. I cannot immagine what my sister is feeling.

I did finally speak to her on Monday. She is of course devistated. She said she has to get all the paper work filed for coustidy of her grandson. He is only 13 and his father is not in the picture. The girls have their dad and will be staying with him. I wish I knew how to help them all. I let her know that I am here for all of them if they need anything. You just feel so helpless.

My neice will be cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral. This is so hard, there is no closure.

Want you to know I'm keeping you and your entire family in my thoughts and prayers through this tragedy.  I also applaud you for visiting your therapist. There is certainly a feeling of helplessness in situations like this. I know you want to help your sister and her grandchildren. I'm sure you will have that opportunity in the future.

Oh Harlin...That is so very very tragic for you and your family, I cannot imagine but the pain must be hard to verbalise.
