They just had a story on the news tonight tht made me sooo mad. It was about the flu.  It basically said 1) you feel it coming on 2) you should be staying home with it and not have contact with anyone.

What part of sudden abrupt symptoms don't they get? They must have a better crystal ball than I do.

As for staying home with it pleeeeaaasse!  >:( >:( You think we want to come into work with a 105 fever, achey all over and puking our guts out????
I HAD the H1N1 confirmed by by dr. in Oct'09. I called into work and they said I HAD to come into work or get a reprimand. Two hours later I do drag myself into work looking like H with a barf bag and a mask on. 15 Minutes later the boss calls me into the office saying because I was >1hr late I would still get a reprimand in my file. So if I felt so bad, I might as well go home.

I called my dr who diagnosed the flu who was soooo ticked at them, he made out the FMLA for me.  And in case you want to know the CDC (Center for Disease Control) can only suggest you stay home. They have no pull or authority with employers. Not sure what good they are.
So, if a fellow employee is sick on the job it is probably because they HAVE TO be there.
Also don't ever tell me empoyees come into work sick because they want to or you will get a BIG EARFUL.

I hope you have an understanding employer and get to feeling better. I know how awful it is to have it.

Pisces, I, too, had H1N1 October 2009, as did EVERYONE in my household (6). It was terrible. I had a bad reaction to Tamiflu, so mine lasted a week. I work in a school and have used up all sick days due to my lovely SjS recurrent URIs. So, I have been told by the Principal that I now need to have a Dr's note if I choose not to come to work.  :-\ (Of course, if I suspected the flu, I would have one, but still...she always picks on me. "Sick" people don't stick around long here..... :-X )
