I really like my doctors. I had one give me a prescription for Restasis in case I needed it. I don't as my eyese don't bother me that much and OTC drops are fine but the specialist said "just in case". WOW

Navydad!

Loved reading that, I fired a Dr. I had for 8 years when she told me I took up to much of her time. I told her I wouldn't do that anymore.
Found out 2 years ago she lost her practice and moved back to the country she was from. Don't know what happened.

Hi Irish,

I go to the the U of Michigan. The Dr. I fired was my GP! She knew everything I was going thru...really shocked me.

Laura, I lived in Michigan 2 different times and I loved it. I still miss it. THe falls there are awesome though with the sugar maples. I would love to get back once more to visit before I am too old. Irish ;D

Hi Laura-

I've lived in Michigan my whole life (unlike Irish-who just stopped in)!  I was shunned and given "there is nothing wrong with you but osteoarthritis" by a local rheumy.  Two weeks later, I was diagnosed as positively positive at U of Michigan.  Because I live toward the western side of the state, I found a wonderful rheumy from one of the members on this board!  I can't thank her enough for giving me tha name.  I still have to travel for an hour-15 minutes, but the traffic is not nearly as bad or the route as confusing as Ann Arbor.

I would go back to U of M in a minute if I had problems I needed extra health with.  My rheum referrs patients to U of M.  My doctor was a female of foreign descent, but I liked her very much.  Within a year of my visit, she moved to Arizona to practice medicine.  In Phoenix I believe.

Irish- you are not too old to visit Michigan.  I can think of a couple of easy drives to different parts of Michigan which of course one would do in the summer or fall, otherwise you might need to iceskate.  We're old too, but we go from southern MI to northern MI every summer at least once.  Hubby also goes to Petoskey deer hunting in addition.  One trip I want to make again is the trip around Lake Superior.  We did that about 15-20 years ago and I want to do it again before we're too old.  Lucy

Hi fellow Michiganders!!

I too love Michigan. The cold weather is getting a little hard on me, but i just don't venture out to much anymore. I love to go to Drummond  Island in the winter. We rent
cabins on the water. So BEAUTIFUL!!!

My Rhumie' s at the U of Michigan. Its about 90 miles away from me, but worth it. They are so caring there. They will not quit until they find the problem. Thats how they
found my Kidney Cancer. Not to mention Sjogrens.

I have family in Holland and in Kalamazoo. My brother just bought a new house there. I haven't been feeling well, but as soon as I do I'm going over there to see it.

I can get thru Ann Arbor with my eyes closed now! LOL!!!
Have a great day!

Like Puccini stated in her post, I too noticed that NavyDad had signed in as a guest!
I also noticed that not one spelling mistake was made, of which Navydad has some difficulty with.
One explanation could be that someone else typed it for him..mmmm Strange?    Dolly

Dolly Dimples, Navydad's post on "When to fire your Doctor" didn't sound like him when I read it so I'm guessing he copied and pasted it from somewhere else.  That could explain why there were no spelling mistakes.  His mistakes in his messages were because his hands don't work properly now, I think, because if you go back to old messages (a year plus ago), he seldom made typing mistakes.

Could you please tell me who you see in Michigan? There are so few Rheumatologist in a Grand Rapids, that they pick and chose their patients. I don't want to drive to Ann Arbor unless I have too.
