on vacation, friend turned into SATAN!!!!!

Happy New Year to you all!!!

So, I just got back from a vacation in Florida with a friend who knows about my sjogrens.  After inviting me to her timeshare, and I paid for my flight, etc - - she invited her college roommate!!!!  I have never met her roommate so now, as you can all guess, I'm the third - I should have backed out then but I didn't.  Anyway, the two of them walked and talked together and left me out of most everything.  However, the worst part was that the water in Cocoa Beach isn't great so we bought jugs of water and just kept filling our bottles from that.  One morning, my friend/satan was filling her bottle and I said "Oh, good, I need to do that too - I'm out."  She filled her bottle and finished the water and said, "we're out, we'll have to get some more later."  I was pisssed!!!!  Even if I didn't NEED that water, I would have shared whatever was left rather than taking it all.  How RUDE!!!!!!!!!!  She did that with other things too, but the water is the one that ired me.

She and I had discussed a relaxing vacation - laying around, reading, having some wine and a nice dinner. Once the roommate came - they wanted to run, run, run - - well, as you can guess, that was hard for me.  So I pulled out the spoon theory for them to read -- -they read half and then put it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm supposed to go pick up Satan from the airport on Sunday - 2 1/2 hours away (I had always planned to come home a few days earlier -) I will go pick her up because I said I would - I thought we were good enough friends that she'd do that for me as well - wel, now I'm rethinking that about her. 

OK, - Just had to gripe - - thanks and happy new year.

I had a similar experience before I was dx. It was when I was 16 and I had my license and was told we would have a car in reno also, but her mom lied and I was with them and had to do whatever they did the whole tiime and she was a BBtch the whole time....I finally called my dad and boyfriend after 3 days and told them I couldn't spend one more minute with her and if they didn't come get me, I'd be walking...trust me when I say I would!! I actually never talked to her again except to get my things I left on accident.

Sometimes you find out what someone is truly llike when ya go on VACATION with em!

I know that there are so many things to do in Florida. We had a timeshare and my wife and kids wanted to run all the time. I would take busy days off and stay in the timeshare to relax while they ran. We were about 1 mile from Disney. I took the gentle tours while they did the rides. One time I stayed home and my wife her twin and the three daughters went with one grandson. They came home totally exhausted while I tried to have extra spoons at the end of each day they were gone.

Although I would be more than tempted to leave her at the airport, I couldn't do it.  I would suggest you call her now and tell her you are too ill and she should make other plans to get home.  That does not sound like a fun 2 1/2 hour ride home!

Voiceteacher, that must have been a terrible time for you. I have to agree with Autoimmunity, and would let your friend know that you are too unwell to pick her up. She might be hacked off, but she deserves it.

Navydad - - you're funny!!  That's exactly what I'd like to do - - but, of course, I won't.  Actually, the only COSTCO near me is in that town - 2 1/1 hours away - so I don't go often.  I think that after I pick her up, I'll go there - - whether or not it's on her schedule.  That way it won't be a totally wasted trip.

As for her turning into SATAN - - when I talked w/my mother, she said she didn't TURN into Satan, it was already there but I hadn't seen it yet - - that's probably true.  But still, I'm incredibly disappointed that someone I considered a friend, is so inconsiderate, unkind and uncaring.  Oh well - - now I know.

Hope you all had a wonderful New Years - - I was in bed with the flu - - I think the stress of this trip really made my resistance low and then I got the flu from the plane.  Doing better today - - still staying home, in bed but no more fever.

Here's to as much health and happiness as we can all find this year!!!!  Thank you to all for being here - I know I don't post much but I always feel better when I do - - -

OK, I'm off to the airport today  - with strep throat!!!!  I got it the morning after I got home from the hellish trip.  It's sunday but I'll call the dr anyway to get an antibiotic - - I haven't had strep since 1988!!!  I wish I didn't have to go today - I know if the tables were turned, she'd leave me on a lurch if she were sick but I just can't do it.

Where is Navydad when you need him??

yes, the thought is evil -  however - it's only a thought and since she can't actually catch the flu from thoughts, I'll enjoy that one!!!!!  Thank you all for your support - - - that was a very upsetting situation - and being sick didn't help.  I am now on antibiotics - called the dr sunday afternoon - - the strep is already responding - so - - hopefully this won't drag on like most of our colds do!!!
