Anyone want to try n get more awareness for SjS on the View?

I don't know how many of you watch the View on ABC.  Sometimes I catch it and have learned that Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a celiac.  About 2 1/2 months ago, not long after my diagnosis, I happened to catch an episode with Snoop Dog, his wife and daughter.  His daughter has lupus and they were interviewed about it.  Well, since Hasselbeck has an autoimmune disease herself I thought we might be able to appeal to her to do a segment on SjS.  All it takes is writing an email through her site.  If enough of us do it, maybe she'd consider?

I would write, I've been thinking of writing Oz too. My only fear is that they'll say it's just dry eyes and dry mouth.

 Hi I  dont think that any celebrity would be of much use  in trying to raise awareness for SS.

         Many, many medical people do not even understand the workings of SS, never mind trying to convince Joe public.
            Seeing how hugely popular this site is becoming,

                                  I think we have the chance ourselves to convince people to take us more serious.
                             So spread the word to anyone who will listen. Keep mentioning the site to your own medics when you visit them,

I wrote the Dr Oz show,Dr Phil and the Doctors show and never got a response. I would also like to see a positive show on Fibro

When you write, mention the new video on the SSF website, that would give them a good overview.  I know that if you combine the last two ladies that would equal many of my symptoms.

I laughed out loud!  I sometimes what Oz before bed and my husband always says...oh, god, why do we watch this before we go to sleep.  It is a little doom and gloom sometimes.    It would be nice to see some experts on this on TV...are there some?

I don't know but would also love to see Dr. Faustman on the View or Oprah or something......I will find the appropriate way to contact Elisabeth Hasselbeck and post by the weekend.  I know folks have tried similar stuff on the Interstitial Cystitis network.  It may amount to nothing but at least we can't say we didn't try!  And Elisabeth mentions her celiac issues regularly because I only see the show maybe 2-3 times a month and I've heard about it quite a few times!

I love Dr. Oz because I'm obsessed with all things medical.  Too bad I didn't try to be a doc.....maybe I coulda helped myself!

I think it's a great idea to get SJS out to the general public too.  I have doctors who  have never even heard of it.  However, as someone else mentioned, I would be afraid they would ultimaltey describe it as simply dry eyes and mouth - and of course WE all know it is so much more than that.  I saw that episode of The View and I honestly thought that they even downplayed Celiac a bit.  I have seen mentions of AI on Dr. Oz, but nothing about SJS - mostly Lupus and Celiac.  IN fact he had a great segment on Celiac. 

I tell everyone I can about it - I ahve posted a Support Sjogrens Tag on my Facebook profile pic - so has my daughter and sister.  I post all I can about it, but funny, no one ever asks anything about it.  Sad, no one really is much intersted until they themselves become affected.  But I do think it's a great idea.  I would just hope they wouldn't downplay it like the House episode did once.

I'm in the UK, but have written an article for the British Medial Journal in the pas about SJSt. I've also tried to get SJS pushed on BBC RAdio 4. I'll let you know if that happens.
