Blood in Urine

Hi there,

I'm having a bad few weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Three weeks ago i had a nasty pelvic infection which was cleared up quite quickly with two different antibiotcs.

I have been off the antibiotics for two weeks and have been quite well.

Yesterday i woke up in the night and was going for a wee,when i finished my bladder still felt full so sat for a little while longer and then passed lots of blood. I was up and down through the night then going for a wee frequantly and every time i wee'd i still felt full then passed blood. Had some small clots to.

As it was the weekend went to see the out of hours dr and he said i had just a very nasty wee infection and has put me on antibiotcs....nitrofurantoin(this has turned my wee illuminous yellow). I have been on this since yesterday and i'm still passing blood but no clots. The dr took my wee to send to the lab and has said it should be back to the gp in a few days and to phone and see what they have to say.

Do many people here suffer like this? I have had plenty of bad wee infections in the past but never passed blood like that and i'm a bit concerned.

Sorry to hear all you've went through with it! I just got over a kidney infection and bladder infection with possible kidney stone. I was passing blood but they didn't seem too concerned...

I did stop peeing blood so the antibiotics seemed to have cleared it up.

I would definitely.follow up with your go!

I've had that.  It isn't fun at all.  Since this thing has gone full force I have trouble with bladder infections.  Did your follow up instructions have when you should expect the blood to stop?  If not it wouldn't hurt to call in tomorrow/Monday.

I'm sorry that you're having such a time!  I tell you, if it ain't one thing, it always seems to be another!

Is the new antibiotic helping any?  I'll keep my fingers crossed that it wipes it out never to darken your bladder again!

  Hi Claire,
                 Sorry you seem to be having a bad spell,.... just a little advice.
                  While you wait for your urine test result,  i'd drink lots of water,

                    I was passing dark red blood with smalish clots,   While waiting for my Docs appointment later that day
                           I drank lots of water to flush the bladder out.

                            My water was much clearer by the time I saw the Doc, and then antibiotics cleared me up
                           Still drank water while on the tablets! and afterwards!

I know it's scary, but my GP said it's quite common to have blood in the urine w a uti. Taking Azo helped me slot w the urges and pain. I was having them so frequently that my doc put me on a low dose antibiotic to take after sex, since we think it stems from that. Drink lots n lots of water n cranberry juice! Good luck, I know it stinks!
