Raynaud's?

Hi everybody,

Is it possible to have Raynaud's without having fingers that turn white and/or blue?

My fingers get really cold when I'm outside - and it doesn't even have to be extremely cold weather for them to hurt.  Yesterday I was out, it was 40*F, I had gloves on and my fingers were hurting and throbbing, but they didn't turn white or blue.  It used to be that it would have to be freezing or colder for that to happen.

Hi Nans,

I have Raynauds but I am not sure if it counts as Raynaud when not having your fingers turning blue/white.
Althouh I do think we are very senseitive to the cold/sun and it affects us easily so we get cold/sweat quickly.
Maybe it's another AI thing I guess.
It's also possible that you are developing Raynaud and that the change in colours will come later on, but I could be totally wrong.
Hopefully someone else will be able to answer this/give more information.

A very good question.  My fingers will hurt and get numb even in restaurants with air conditioning that is on full blast.  I've just assumed it is a mild form of Raynauds.  I'll be interested to hear from some of the others on this subject.

I'm being treated for Raynaud's. Mine is mainly in my feet, which are always absolutely freezing. However, my hands/fingers are not so badly affected at all. In fact, they rarely bother me, unlike my feet that even bother me at the height of summer. I'm sat now in a centrally heated room, wearing lycra tights, thermal socks, trousers, and I still have a blanket wrapped around my feet

I have to wear gloves outside,, but I think mine is from Neuropathy, I cant tolerate a breeze blowing across them,, at night I feel like I still have gloves on when I go to bed,, my hands will feel hot,, now with the fingers locking over, its a real mess,, but getting them to do anything is pointless,,

 Nans, For many years I have had extremely cold hands,

                        only my  right hand middle finger goes numb,and is dead white, but never blue (yet)

                       Even with gloves on my hands will be freezing, also nose end feels llike it has frozen solid!

                   I think it is another quirk from SS, I
                                      am going to try these blocks that you can place in your pockets and they generate some heat.
                                      Apparently the fishermen use them, any fishermen out there tried em'?

My hands and feet are constantly ice cold and very painful.  I am under a very hot heating blanket right now and my feet/toes still hurt and feel cold, meanwhile my legs are on fire.  I have to have a heater on my desk blowing onto my hands or there is no way I could work.
I was recently at my gp's office because I couldn't move my arm.  She touched my hand and asked me if my endo had told me that I do have raynauds (NO!  he tells me nothing).  Anyway, she diagnosed me and my hands don't turn blue or white.  I did have an odd episode several months back where my hands turned bright purple for a short time, otherwise I am not seeing a color change.  I wonder if because I type all day and my fingers are in constant motion if that is why they don't change color?  More blood flow?

My hands and feet get sooo cold and they are hard to warm up. Cold hurts them, bad. I cannot mess with anything frozen for more than a few seconds. Actions such as trying to open a frozen juice concentrate are so painful I have to wear oven mitts to protect my hands... Many times I get a dark pink or red tint under my finger nails, it can border on purple at times. It's only the finger nails, not toes. I think it probably is a very mild form of Raynauds.

I have Raynaud's without any of the color changes.  I wear gloves a lot, including some with half fingers during cool weather.  That way I can use the computer while waiting for the office to warm up more.

I went to the Raynaud's site looking for helpful tips.  One is to keep your body core warm because it helps keep your fingers and toes warmer and therefore you have less pain.

I use a pot holder or kitchen towel to take food out of the freezer because it hurts otherwise.

Nans, I have Raynaud's without my fingers and toes turning blue/white. It used to effect my fingers and toes, equally, but now it mainly effects my toes. They get so cold that my toes HURT like crazy. And no matter what I do, they remain cold-feels like they're frozen and burning. So, now my rheumy has me on Procardia to help with the Raynaud's and my BP, which seems to be rising.

I have Raynaud's mainly in my hands and feet (love the blue/purple color, not), and sometimes my nose decides to get in on the action (not so much fun when you're in the office and the nose does it's blue show; it's amazing the stares I get from that one ).

My hands and feet are usually ice cold and has been for most of my life as well.  But the color changes started about four or five years now.  Ugh.

Anyone else have fingernail changes too?  Mine have flattened out entirely and boy, can they hurt!!!

My fingers, hand, toes and feet all get so very cold even though I am wearing socks and under a blanket.  I was wondering about the Raynaud's too so I googled the images of this syndrome.  What I describe isn't anything like what I saw in the pictures.   My hands become pale verging on white and the veins appear very blue  sort of like a road map in white and blue.   Not sure what to think about that.

Patze, YES, my nose gets cold, also! DryEyes, my fingers and toes turn white/pale, too, but never blue, and they just feel like someone is pricking them with a needle. No matter how much heat I apply, it does not seem to help. If I soak them in water, the water turns ice cold in a matter of 1-2 mins. This is a VERY uncomfortable syndrome/disease. Someone bought me some hand warmers to place in my gloves. I use them in my socks, too, when I am just sitting around.

I think I have it in my hands and toes as they've been bothered badly by then cold since I was about 12 years old.  They don't change colors, though.  Interestingly, when I tried breastfeeding my daughter after she was born it was excruciating and my nipples would turn white.  A lactation consultant came to evaluate me and told me I had Raynaud's of the nipple.  This is all before my AI journey officially began.

Sorry, guys, if TMI....just wondering if any other ladies on here also experienced this.
