Mother Nature's fury . . . hold on!

Here in Central IL we have had a windy, windy, windy day.  It seems like a good portion of the U.S. is experiencing different degrees of this too.

This morning we were under a tornado watch, severe thunderstorm warning and high wind warning all at once.   :o  I think all have expired now for us except the high wind warning - which will carry over until tomorrow.

I don't know . . . with all the weird weather patterns the last few years, I still think we're in for an interesting winter!  Everyone better start taking the necessary precautions now to be prepared . . . have canned food on hand, batteries, flashlights, candles or oil lamps, plenty of blankets, etc.

If you are experiencing this wacky weather today/tonight, take care and be safe.

Spent about a half hour at work today - standing around in a back hallway (no windows there) on the first floor.

Well most everyone else was standing.  I don't stand for any great length of time, so I sat on the floor.

It occurred about 2:00 to 2:30 pm for us, the tornado warning - and all the sirens going off.

It was crowded and noisy and difficult being there.   (5 floors of people crowded into the hallways of a single floor).

Been sitting outside watching the clouds roll in... High 83 today, set new record. The ole' rooster weathervane arrow is headed northeast...  Look out VA, here it comes! Warnings posted until 10 p.m DST here in ETN.

Looking forward to seeing a new horizon tomorrow morning! :)  Trust all remain safe tonight...  One Day AT A Time...   LOL,  NewJoy

We are having our usual late October/early November wind and rain storms here in western Washington. Good weather for a cup of tea and a good book, and hoping the electricity doesn't fail.

Lower Michigan got pretty heavy winds, little rain and a tornado warning for a while this am about 11 a.m.  A few people in outlying areas with no power.  Storm not as bad as I thought, although tomorrow is supposed tto be bad, but hoping for the best.  Lucy

News is saying Ohio had at least 3 confirmed tornados strikes.  And they are going to investigate a few other reports to determine if other damage can be confirmed tornados also.

All I know is that me, my cats, and my house is all safe.

All safe here too but it was exciting with all the watches, warnings and sirens.  We had power go out briefly in our town but fortunately it was fixed in a couple hours.  I was driving when the bulk of the storm hit here so I spent a bit of quality time parked in a little parking lot of a local store watching the sheets of rain pummel my truck.  Felt like I was in a wacky carwash.  Without the soap!

Cheryl

We even had a tornado touch down twice in Chattanooga yesterday, and we "never" have them here.  Both strikes were within 5 miles of me.  There was no loss of life, but there is a lot of wind damage.  I'm glad to see that all of you are safe, too!

Glad to hear everyone is safe from the latest wrath of Mother Nature's fury.

Ohiocat - I would have felt a bit claustrophobic with all those people crowded into a small space.  I'm glad you had a safe place to go to wait out the tornado warning.  Also glad you and your pets and house are safe.

Newjoy - I like to watch clouds too.  I wish I had my camera with me yesterday as the sky had rolls of clouds - some, very, very dark and then in spots you could see sunshine peeking through.

Genko - yes, a good book and tea are always good on a rainy day.  I hope you didn't lose power.

Lucy - I saw a reporter on the news yesterday from Michigan.  He was saying how the tides were taking out all the sand and the waves were quite large.  Even as he was reporting, he was having a hard time standing from all the strong winds.

Rayven - isn't it scary to be out and about when the storms hit? Glad you had a spot to pull over and wait it out. I've driven through some really nasty weather - white knuckling it the whole time.  Am always glad that there is calm after the storms and usually the sun pops out.   ;D

Cheryl - 5 miles is getting a tad bit too close to home!  This summer we had a tornado go through 3-1/2 miles down my road.  I'm glad you and your family are safe.

We've still got the winds today - but, not like we had yesterday.  I think they've moved on out to the East.  It seems these storms have affected a wide path of states across the U.S.

Those poor people who have damage from the tornadoes this time of year.  Any time of the year isn't good, but with winter just around the corner it takes a while for cleanup and repairs.  Two neighbors down the street who had tornado damage this summer are STILL doing repairs and probably will be for a while.

Be careful out there and stay safe.

Gosh, your weather makes ours sound very tame!

On Monday, the temp was -2 when I was driving to work at 7.30 am. Today, at lunch time it was +12! Very weird weather. I had to start peeling layers of clothes off at work today, although I spent all Monday with my coat on.

We Sjoggies may be weird, but the weather is even weirder!

Katybarstool,

I am afraid that I am challenged when it comes to understand degrees in the Celsius scale.

Can anyone translate those temperatures into Fahrenheit for me?

Ohiocat - I keep a chart in a folder just so I can convert temperatures because I don't know the difference either.

I looked up -2 and that is 28.4 degrees Fahrenheit and +12 is 53.6

Wow Bucky, not just a pretty face :) :)

It's been very mild here the last couple of days - around 14 degrees - think that's mid to late 50's. DH and I are going to London on a theatre trip in the morning. We're ging to see Love never Dies, which is the follow up to Phantom of the Opera, and I'm really excited. Just got to get over a tummy bug I've had for the last day or so - don't fancy travelling on a coach for 4 hours with that kind of problem!

Speak soon.
