Flu Shots

Do any of you get the flu shot on a yearly basis? I was thinking that maybe I shouldn't have gotten it since most people get sick after taking the shot.

When I was teaching I got them every year. I have been waiting for my MD appoint to find out what he has to say. There have been some shots that he did not give me because of concern over their preparations.

Hi.  I got my flu shot.  Make sure to get the shot that is not a live virus.  I think only
the nasal spray is the live virus.....but anyway, don't get the live virus.  We can't have
that virus in our autoimmune bodies.

Yes, my doctor makes sure I get it every year.  I have never been sick from it.

All of my doctors advise the annual flu shot since I have an AI.

I rarely have any symptoms or ill effects from the shot.

Yes, I got mine after some coaxing by my doctor.  I also got the pneumonia vaccine on her recommendation.

Yes, I get a flu shot every year; no problems with it.  The latest Moisture Seekers newsletter confirms what Bobbie mentioned: get the regular shot, not the nasal one as the latter is a live virus.

My rheumy sent me for the pneumonia shot even before the positive lip biopsy confirmed his Dx.   He also sent me for a TB test at the same time; first one I'd had in years.

I went to see my Rheumy today and got my flu shot. I have been exposed to the flu by my granddaughters so I might get sick anyway but not from the shot. The nurse told me it is a dead virus not a live one. She said the shot will not make you sick.

I get a flu shot every year - it is required as I work in the prisons and jails, and at the hospice among AIDS patients. I've never had a problem from it.

Last year I also got the swine flu shot, but still got the swine flu twice and was very sick from that flu. I don't know if the vaccine was no good, or what.
