Hi all. I was wondering how many of you lot out there must have pets. I wondered if maybe there shouldnt be a posting on here that people can put a posting on if they have lost someone special.

It was Daisys post that gave me the idea in the first place, but my husband reckons I get some loopy ideas some times maybe this is one of them. whats people think?

I think that's a lovely idea. We lost our ginger mongrel, Jaffa, earlier this year, and I think about him often. His little friend, Sooty cat will probably join him soon.  It's just so sad that their lives are comparatively short.

My toy poodle, Teddy, is 15 1/2.  I couldn't have children, so he has been my only child.  I love him dearly and don't know how I'll do when he dies.... :'(

I lost my best friend ( a toy poodle cross) about 12 years ago.. and I still cry and miss her.

Bopeep

wow Babs, 15 1/2 thats a great old age for any dog, what a lot of wonderful memories you will have though.

wiccagal, shame, I know its hard to let go isnt it, and you never forget, but Im sure it gets easier.
Did you ever get another little pet?

My cat Zoe disappeared in April and I've never seen her since.  She was my very first cat to take care of all on my own.  I always thought that many years down the road I would be there with her when she passed away.  Maybe that was a foolish thing to think and hope for?  I think I was too unrealistic wanting that.

Since she left, I have had several dreams about her.  Most of them are happy but the most striking one was within a week of her disappearance.  I dreamt that she and I were separated by a glass door.  She had her front paws up on it, like she was asking to come inside the house.  Although I couldn't hear her, she was meowing because I remember seeing the detail in her mouth and her teeth as she talked.  Then she faded away.  I believe she was saying goodbye to me.

She would have been turning seven next month :(

Oh, Tango.  My eyes welled up for you. :'(

I'm feeling very sad tonight. It's looking like our aged cat, Sooty, is going for her last visit to te vet tomorrow. SHe has been in kidney failure for at least a month, and went blind around the same time. She wants to be outside all the time now, and gets agitated if we won't let her, but she's also deaf, and we worry about her being run over, or freezing to death. Tonight, I was cuddling her, and discovered one of her eyes is closed. After bathing it, it looks like a nasty eye infection. Her quality of life is so poor now, it would be cruel to extend it. So, I'm calling the vet tomorrow.

I feel really sad, because we lost our little dog in March, and this will be the first time in 30 years when we haven't had at least one animal.

tangowhiskey, what a beautifully sad sad story. It bought back memories of the first cat I had and it also disapeared.
What a beautiful dream. She will be waiting for you when your time comes.

Kathy, so sorry for what your going through, Im sure tonight is going to be particually tough for you.

Please know I am sending you both hugs and white light.

Kathy dont dwell to much on tomorrow, instead celebrate Sootys long happy life.

So many stories of sadness...yet we always still have the fond memories of our little ones that we will never lose. They are truly a huge part of the family!

Tangowhiskie....I have never lost a pet like you, but I can only imagine your pain....your story touched my heart.

(((((Kathy))))) My thoughts are with you tonight.

We lost our "Minnie" a wire haired fox terrier, 10 years ago and I still miss her.  She was considered young (10) but suffered a spinal infarction.  We do have two amazing dogs that are rescue dogs now, though! Holly is a cocker spaniel (8) and Foxy is a lab/shepherd mix (10).  Both black :)

My sympathies to all who have lost their sweet ones.  It is a brutal loss.  I have a link to a wonderful little short video/song called "GOD and Dog".  I don't think I can follow the guidelines and post it, but anyone interested can personal message me and I will send you the link.  I keep it on my desktop so that I can play it any time.  Chris

Little Sooty cat went for her last visit to the vet tonight. It was very sad, but we knew we had to do this one last thing for her. I can't believe we now have no pets. The house is going to seem very quiet, but we aren't considering any more just for now.

(((Kathyx))) - I'm sorry about your precious cat, Sooty.  I'm sure Sooty understood that you took her to the vet out of love for her.

Take time to grieve Sooty - she was a part of your family for a long time.

I hope you have some pictures of her that will one day bring you comfort.

This might sound strange - but, maybe get a stuffed animal that reminds you of Sooty - that way, when you are feeling lonely and sad, you can pet it and talk to it.  It will help with some of your grief.  Obviously, it won't replace Sooty - but, it might be soothing to you.

Take care my friend . . . .
Hugs,
Bucky

tangowhiskie -  I'm sorry about your precious cat, Zoe.  Was she an outdoor cat?

We have outdoor cats and I can't count how many of them have disappeared through the years.   :(  It's the not knowing what happened to them that is the hardest.

What a sad, yet comforting dream you had about Zoe.

I've heard stories of animals that disappeared only to return years later.

In August, we had a 9 wk. old kitten hitch a ride under the car and rode down the street 3-1/2 miles before jumping and running into a corn field.  I walked that field three different times that day and never did find Mo.   :(

I hope that you have happy memories of Zoe - she's left her pawprint of love on your heart.

Hugs,
Bucky
