That's a great idea, Chickpea! I'll have to tell me husband about it for the nights he is cooking. He might actually do that soup.

My folks stopped by and dropped off chili this morning but I didn't realize it was frozen solid.  Hubby just popped it into the fridge.  I'm going to have to cook after all :(

Making homemade chili with frozen fries.  Early this week I made a batch of hotdog mini corn muffins (taste just like corn dogs) and some stuffed with cheddar but hubby stuck them in a container w/o lid so they are stale.  Shakes head at husband's complete lack of cooking and food safety skills.

Spaghetti and salad. That reminds me, I need to go get mushrooms.

Left over Sheppard's pie. My youngest daughter made it Sunday night. My wife had a piece last night and may have another tonight. I will have my piece tonight.
They have started to plan their meals Sunday morning after church. Then they go shopping. Then they make a weeks worth of meals. They are down to $60 per week for food by doing this.

Joe - good for them!!   :D

Tonight's menu:   meatloaf (mmmmm, it smells sooooo good cooking right now), green beans, cottage cheese and mashed potatoes.

I haven't made meatloaf in a long, long time . . . recipe taken out of my good ole' Betty Crocker's Cookbook.   ;D  (You know the cookbook - the one with the red cover that every young lady got either for her hope chest or a wedding gift.  I am the proud owner of my Mom's Betty Crocker's Cookbook that she DID get as a wedding gift in 1950.)

I though it had red and white woven cloth like a picnic table cloth.

Joe - my Mom's cookbook has a red and white cover, but not like a picnic tablecloth.  If you go to Ebay and type in:  1950 Betty Crocker's Picture Cook Book you'll see a picture of it.

My Betty Crocker's Cookbook is dated 1984.

When my husband walked in the house tonight he said, "mmmmmm, smells like meatloaf - we haven't had that in ages!".  After dinner he said, "babydoll, that was WONDERFUL!".   ;D

My Dad never complimented my Mom on all the meals she fixed.  That's one nice thing - my husband always tells me I'm a good cook.   :D

I can smell the roast that's in the slow cooker, complete with onions, carrots and potatoes.  I think it's ready!

Carebear -  mmmmm, sounds yummy.  Don't you just love a slow cooker?  The house always smells soooo good while it's cooking away.  I think this is the easiest way to cook - just throw everything into the pot, cover it and let it cook.

I had to work tonight - so, when I got off work and was getting ready to head home to a bowl of cereal  ::), my brother-in-law invites me to dine with him.   :D

So, I ended up having Oriental Chicken Salad and it comes with bread.  Yum!

The best part?  I didn't have to cook it or clean up afterwards . . and, it was FREE.   ;D

I have a box of frozen hamburger patties in the freezer and I am thinking of a burger with melted provolone, bacon and grilled onions and a baked potato maybe?  I might not even put that burger on bread.  LOL  Now I am hongreeee!

tomsmom

Mskittyshell,
Burgers sound really good.  My son just informed me that he's having Chinese tonight.  He's 5 lol.  Think I'll join him and order some steamed chicken and broccoli.

Not much!!! I fell asleep in my recliner for the first time in months and didn't wake up til 4:30 PM. Had nothing except some ham in the fridge. I had cold cereal and hubby had eggs and toast. Another great culinary event at our house. Irish ;D

Spaghetti with meat sauce and a salad. I make a fresh blueberry cobbler at 2 a.m. so guess we'll have that for dessert tomorrow.  It was funny about the spaghetti.
My husband went to take care of a few errands after getting home from work. As he was walking out the door I asked him what he might like to eat since I would cook. I said I can make beans and rice or spaghetti, and I heard him say "spaghetti, that sounds good."  So, I made spaghetti while he was gone.
He came back and I was so proud since I had it all finished.  ;) He looked at the stove and said "that doesn't look like beans and rice...that sounded really good."   No....it looks like spaghetti!  Either I didn't hear him correctly or he told me the opposite thing; neither of us know now.  We just laughed and told each other "what we have here is a failure to communicate".

Maybe tomorrow will be beans and rice...

;D ;D hehehe Meld 256. I believe its called something like Men are from mars and woman are from Venus.
I know with my other half he says one thing and I interperate it as a total opposite, but what the heck, it keeps life interesting and at least this way you end up having two nights meals sorted out LOL

Tonight I am having nothing because it just seems like too much trouble.
Iv had a few mishaps in the past couple of months, the major one being my Hubie got ill and they dint know what it is but its got something to do with livers and pancress Hes been in hospital for awhile undergoing tests.
and worst part is they dint know why, but the prognosis isn't looking good to add to the stress I have now taken on the responsibility of the entire farm which consists of only about 50 acres, but you add a couple of hundred sheep to that and it becomes busy really quickly.

Just on the lighter side, a couple of days ago the vets rang me telling me that a live vaccine that the OH (other half) ordered had arrived and needed to be administrated within the next few days and the longer i left it the less affective it would be.
In addition to trying to give my OH the attention he deserves I mow have added the welfare of nearly 300 sheep, that are needing either inoculations, dosing, crouching,  which basically means you have your hand up one end or down the other, ( please dint be offended by that )
I want to apologise for this whinge on the wrong site but just needed to vent......SORRY
When I did what I had to do I arrived back at the house and starving, but totally fatigued gued I decided I felt like a good cut of meat so I cooked 2 porterhouse steaks, nothing  else, just steaks, thinking if I just cook them and nothing else Ill be full and if I couldn't finish it then our little yellow lab would love the left overs and the OH needn't know about it.
I have to tell you guys I ate 2, yes thats right 2 porterhouse steaks and the dog never got a look in.

So whats for dinner at Bo peeps house ...... meat and lots of it
Sorry for the long explanation lol
