Today the vet told me my dog has an autoimmune disease that causes dry eyes!!!  Well, makes sense to me, having Sjogrens and all.  I just didn't know dogs could have those kind of issues.  Poor Rowdy, needs some lovin!  He is such a good boy, never complains, except when I try to put the ointment in his eyes.  He's a very large german shepherd (150lbs) and he resists, so it's a battle!

Rayven

Bless his fuzzy head!

I have all kinds of sad stories and poor souls for pets so I can relate to the eye ointment challenges.  Best of luck to you and your dear friend.

And I bet the vet didn't require positive SSA/SSB or lip biopsy.  LOL   Must have diagnosed him based upon symptoms....wow, what a concept. :P

Glad Rowdy has a vet that is more open minded than some of our rheumy's...and a mom that obviously loves him.

I remember trying to give oral worm medicine to 200 lb goats, so I understand the battles with resistant animals.   Hopefully he'll get use the routine after a while.  I'm sure he'd love an extra "treat" as part of his "treatment".

Lots of love for Rowdy

Aww, you guys are so kind and Rowdy would love to meet you.  The vet did the thing where he put a strip of paper in his eye to determine no tears.  The one thing I need to find out is if Rowdy hurts.  That's the worst of it for me and I would hate to think he's in that kind of pain.  He does seem stiff sometimes when he gets up.

aww he sounds so sweet. I love animals so much. They are such sweet accepting little friends. I have one leaning against me right now  as I type. I hope your Rowdy gets use to his eye meds. I think too about if they hurt, because it seems like unless it's a broken bone or something like that they don't let on like we do.
